Thunderbird Club

HD-130 most likely. They're still out there.
I'm guessing I owe you an apology, Kat. Ya remember that time in the mid '90s when you felt a bit "off" & just couldn't sleep? That was when I got that Jazz. It was a 3 tone sunburst with tort… bound maple neck & fretboard, with pearl blocks. I'm sorry… (although I wish I had it to sell now;))

Yessiree! I love it, and will do it on my next 'bird(s) as well! One of my favorite things about the T-bird, is how reactive it is to small variances in how & where it's picked/plucked, and how the pups are blended. By adding the blend pot… I can now tweak that blend with one knob, instead of two, and increase/decrease the volume of a blended tone (again, with one knob). I know there's a lotta "set it & forget it" folks 'round these parts, to whom this would be a "big whoopty-doo :meh:"… but I LOVE it!

Music Man amps… hybrid done RIGHT:thumbsup:
Yep! On any tube amp, the magic is in the power section not the preamp. Why nearly all hybrids out there insist on a tube pre has always baffled me.
The reason a valve amp behaves the way it does when driven hard is the power section and the way those tubes handle that load vs a solid state component route. Sure the preamp defines the voice (and I'd argue that can be done equally well in SS or valve fashion) but the power section defines the personality, and I have yet to hear a SS amp with the exact same personality as a Valve power amp. Some come close, in fact some may even sound better, but they don't have the same personality when pushed. IMHO

I have the MM HD150. It's awesome!

...and I got to keep all my necessary body parts. ;)

They're available for not silly money if you keep an eye out Mike. Supposedly to get the full benefit you want to use the 'bass' channel with the deep switch engaged.

Oh… I think you know the answer. It's cheap, and people buy into tube hype easily. Generally speaking… I would prefer tube pre AND tube power, but have a variety of limitations that keep that from being possible at the moment. I wouldn't hesitate to try force feeding a tube pre into a solid state amp if I thought I could get a more pleasing sound outa the deal… but I know there is no substitute for tube power, and wouldn't expect a "tube amp sound" under those circumstances. Just hope for "better". Music Man just found their own magic:)

You guys are the greatest! (I friggin' LOVE this club!!!):)

I gotta lotta stuff to sort out before I'll have any "play money"… but I'm workin' on it:thumbsup:

The only thing I'm allowing on my GAS list right now, is a decent cable with a right angle plugs (I'm scared as hell of what I might do to that hollow body Gretsch if I let my guard down)

Fix - if I had a fragile instrument like a hollowbody guitar and was concerned about damaging it in the event of a strong cable pull, I'd be looking at a "snap jack".

How about the basses that got away. Gibson victory bass. Super heavy but very cool. Warwick thumb bass through body.the amp that got away was my ampeg b15 original.

not one to dwell in regret - everything happens the way it does for a reason

I am afraid what my little collection says is this dude makes too much money and has no sense. They are all still mine from most recent acquisition to the gateway POS at the bottom. If only I had skill worthy of these fine instruments. The NRT (in my avatar) is what I am currently playing most of the time.

Having a decidedly in rock and roll night... a buddy loaned me a couple desktop synths to make bloops and bleeps with. Trying to learn this crap full analog in real time, with no computer. My midi chops are rusty to say the least
