"Also, which speaker are we discussing?"
Just the smaller cones in general, as they relate to being a nice choice for DB's

"It’s all about the design."
Absolutely! there's no denying the awesomeness of an efficient speaker (regardless the size) when paired with an efficiently designed cab (again-regardless of the size)

Another thing that has recently been mentioned round here is the use of a high pass filter ala' the Thumpinator. I use one all the time, it's my constant end-of-chain charm.
I've been thinking about picking up an Fdeck HPF too. But I haven't been using the doghouse much lately (Norton custom Shen SB 100/innovation silver slaps/full circle/platinum pro) again, with the SFX at the end of the chain.
I also use a BSX Allegro. again it's been awhile.
I played a show Saturday night with the doghouse. The stage was tiny, and three of us (no drummer) barely fit. No FOH, but in a place that size, it hardly mattered. The fDeck was absolutely critical to being able to play without raging feedback, even at less than ear splitting volumes. It was tough to get the doghouse to sound right without getting feedback. That was the one issue I had with the venue, and it's my problem to solve, not theirs. The audience were really happy, and it sounds like we might become regulars there. Too bad it pays peanuts. Can't have everything, I guess.

I'm not a church goer as well, but to this note Steve, i have to give mention to @Dr. Cheese. He's a good bass player and plays in his church band. Seems to be a lot of good musicians at the house. He just doesn't have a ThunderBird.
He seems to have tried everything else. He will come around, no doubt. A 'Bird just has to choose him. It will happen, and he will be surprised.

There's no band where I attend church. There wouldn't be anywhere to put one even if they wanted one.

So I'll pose a question that I like to ask of people that make a living out of building things that other people want...
If money were no object and your goal was to get the best stage sound out of your Lollar Bird using your YBA amp in a medium to large dance hall type indoor venue what custom speaker/cab design would you spec?
This isn't a trick question, it's just fun to see the direction a builder would go vs the direction everyone else asks them to go.
Add one more condition - somebody else has to carry it.

All this talk of lightweight amps, small cabinets, and pedal boards got me thinking that it would be great to have a board with the usual stuff, but add a Bass Block or something like that. Plug it all into a couple Crazy 8 cabinets and it would be as close to a stealth rig as you could get. No amp aside from the pedal board. Small cabinets that could be deployed in a variety of ways depending on the stage. A small guitar amp would be huge in comparison. The whole idea is intriguing just to do it. If it sounds good, that's even better. It's cost prohibitive for the time being unless I sold a bunch of stuff, and that's not going to happen.
