Thunderbird Club

Hey, it's only 3:00am there. Get that boy a bag of White Castles, it'll soak up the alcohol in no time. Besides, they have the best coffee you can find after 2:00am.
So, what do you call that haircut - "soccer mom" haircut???
We HAD a chain down here called"Royal Castle". Same idea. Now the nearest Krystal is 65 miles away:(Update:discovered a Krystal 14 miles from me,conveniently located on the way to/from PSL GC:thumbsup:

Thanks, I'm not really looking to dirty things up. Between the Gibby pickups and the GK head it's got that in spades, more I'm looking for a clean type boost that livens up the top end a little. Honestly? I'm not sure what I want. I've got an SCR-DI, I'm mixed on it, little too scooped for me, and the Behringer Sansamp clone which is just mud.
I've got my first real gig with my new band start of April so I'm getting nervous. Sound will be FOH , no onstage amps. Recommendations on a good Di would be appreciated also.

Darkglass Vintage Ultra. They come up here second hand (which is where I got mine). 4 band EQ (with selectable frequencies for low and high mids), blendable overdrive with saturation controls* (grunt and attack) and DI out.

I had a Sansamp with the same problem you described. Try the DGVU, you can always flip it if you don't like it.

* you would probably find rolling off the top and bottom ends would give you the most organic tone.

Silly Thunderbird Question: Were the first Gibson Thunderbird basses from, say, 1963 and 1964 strung with flat wound strings? I wonder since it has become such an icon Rock bass with round wounds. Also, THAT tone, it really sounds nothing like a Fender P or J, what was Gibson thinking??? I mean, I LOVE what they were thinking, I just don't know what it was. I thought if they were trying to compete with Fender, they would have replicated Fender's tone as much as possible. Someone needs to write a history of Thunderbirds history, with lots of color photos!

I suppose those stills are taken from a picture/show (I have no knowledge about)?

Yes, I’m thinking so.

Yikes!

Why do people not drive for conditions? It's not like it is new thing at this time of year...

Is it just me or have drivers gotten worse in the last 20 years or so? And GET OFF MY LAWN!

Never fails, the worse the weather gets, the worse the drivers are. They think they're even more invincible for some stupid reason.

+1 on the DGUV, love my B7Ku. Between that, and the boost control on the GK, i totally get exactly the tone and saturation i'm looking for. Not a fan of distortion.

Yeah, Mine came on so I checked. It was still under the hood.:smug:

Get an OBD2 diagnostic reader. They are fairly cheap (similar in price to an EHX pedal). Then:
1. you won't get charged an exorbitant "diagnostic" fee at a mechanic.
2. you can reset the check engine light.

Most check engine light faults are related to pollution controls. Most commonly - loose gas cap and clogged EGR valve. The code will tell you what the fault is.
