I know it's a TB thread however got to say that body color is just sick!

Maybe. They're not a bad bass although they are heavy (thicker body), the neck feels a bit longer than my other Birds and the electronics are not up to much.
The cab the drummer and I built was made out of 3/4" plywood,had 3 shelves plus the bottom for components and was deep enough for air circulation plus we had a fan in it. Everything into a power strip so only one plug coming out of it. The drummer's name was Randy Rhodes(not Ozzie's late guitarist). After building this beast ,we promptly named it"The Colossus"It was impressive. It was also a PITA to keep"right". We built a cab(this was pre racks)for all our components which were shock mounted
The neck pickup placement is certainly closer to the neck than the T-Bird or even a Gibson Explorer.I will say that the placement brings out more of the "Bass" tone.Finger technique also plays a big part in the sound.
If I play over the bass pickup I get a smoother Bass sound.If I favor the bridge I get more growl.Having said that I tend to be a pinky finger anchor on the bridge guy.The tone I get and like tends to be on the deep piano spectrum.
Currently I am running the bridge pickup at 10 and the neck at 8.If I want to fill out the lower end I just put both volumes at 10 and back off the tone.So really the neck placement for this Bass works for this set up..lots of variation for the explorer.With these inexpensive pick ups I don't see this as a one trick pony at all.Actually I'm on the lookout for another used Epiphone Explorer that I can mod the same way and paint it candy apple red with ReRanch nitro.

Thinking about it, I already have too many basses I don't play because they're too heavy. Such a deal though! Oh well...

Thinking about what that song's bass sounds like, it doesn't surprise me all that much. It's a boingy kind of sound that would probably be pretty tough to get out of a Thunderbird, for example. Hmmmm... Time to do some experimenting.

If that's true, then what's one more? I'm trying to figure out where to stash another drum kit if I get one. The logistics of a bass are not as complex as a drum kit.

Not really! However at this point I don't want to add anything I won't play. I think I would play a VP if I could find one locally.
Aw,hell,that's easy. Combine them and have double kicks,FOURPLE mounted toms,tune 1 snare as a piccolo,and more cymbals than you could say grace over.

Old eyes can't tell. Are those the stock pups on the Dan Armstrong or ??.
