Thunderbird Club

Thinking about what that song's bass sounds like, it doesn't surprise me all that much. It's a boingy kind of sound that would probably be pretty tough to get out of a Thunderbird, for example. Hmmmm... Time to do some experimenting.
Plus it's a shorter scale, it's hollow and has single coils...can't think of a more different bass to a TBird

Everyone to their own bag and I know it's iconic but I could never"get with"the Dano's horns or those dinky little tuners:rollno:
LOL - I hear ya!
Love my little Dano Longhorn, it just has a unique sound I can't get with any other bass. Sure the tuners are crap, and yes the nut is a joke as is the auto collapse nearly intonatable bridge, not to mention the engineering brilliance of using vinyl adhesive tape instead of paint around the perimeter of the body which, by the way is some cheap core wood covered with Formica. I won't even go into the toilet seat asthetics and playschool control knobs. Yep, in spite of all that garbage Engineering, horrible material selections, questionable quality control and butt ugly astethics they managed to put out a bass that sounds like no other and therefore permanently wedge their product into rock and roll and country music history. I love mine and play it proudly in spite of all it's flaws.
No pic no bass, so here ya go (the squeamish may want to shield their eyes)...

MY EYES,MY EYES! Actually,it's kinda cool!;)

Like NRs. Hell, given a choice I'd take the Dano over a Hofner any day..
I'd second that. I pride myself on being very open minded when it comes to trying and buying basses but I have yet to find a Hofner Beatle bass that I could bond with. Just don't like the feel or sound of it and I find the controls to be counter intuitive. Others get on with them just fine, like that guy from the '60s with the bowl haircut (Mc who's his face). Just not my cuppa I guess.
