Huh! Never noticed that. It's never been off while I've owned the bass so IDK what's up w/ that. No other drill holes so I'd hafta assume the previous owner did that and I've had her since '73. I guess I'll have to burn it.................NOT!

Here's the thing that's throwing me off though. Wouldn't you see the original whole if it were moved?

There's no other hole there so either it was built that way or the original owner added the cover. I have no idea of its history pre me.

Don't denigrate cartoons. An entire generation learned valuable lessons from them. Lessons such as:

If you keep running when you have gone off a cliff, you will not fall unless you stop running,
Three buckets contain enough paint and colour selections to paint a realistic mural of a tunnel,
When arguing, change your position and your adversary will also change theirs,
Martians are planning on blowing up the earth for blocking their view of the sun,
An umbrella is insufficient protection from falling boulders,
Sentences are long trains connected by And, But, and Or, and
Bills sit on the steps of congress until they are passed.
