I know this is the T Bird club, but I just really didn't want to show this to the GenPop. My '65 P has been relegated to flat wounds for recording purposes, and it really sounds great since those are the strings intended for it. But I really missed having a P with rounds, because it's a great sound too. So I bought a new FSO:

My Dingwall Super P. All the things that make a P cool, and a lot of sweet enhancements. 32"-34.25 scale, 7.5 -25" compound fingerboard radius and an aggressive P pickup. Impeccable fit and finish as you would expect. The only downside is the supplied gig bag doesn't live up to the quality of the instrument. But overall, I'm tickled poopieless (yes, I actually typed that).

FSO or not - That is a beautiful Dingwall with a stunning blue burst finish...

I would love to have a Thunderbird in that color!

64 spec Thunderbird II in piano black with nickel hardware. Ashtrays optional for weird people who like them.

If you change your mind I’ll take that as my sig model.

I think sunburst looks best with a single wood. BUT not my bass, just offering suggestions to a fantasy instrument which I hope becomes an actual one soon

Where did you get the covers + spacers from?

Thunderbucker Ranch... I gotta make two of the spacers though. It came with one, for the pickup cover to make up for the pickguard.

4 1/8" walnut veneers, just a decorative stripe

My Epiphone in this case which uses standard veneer but same thing

the 5 main laminates are Mahogany

Whatever it was it was pretty horrendous, she had a very severe rash that covered most of her body on Sunday, it's visually nearly gone now and her breathing seems completely normal again. She's just asked for some lunch for the first time instead of me trying to persuade her to eat at least a little soup. She's also on antihistamines which make her drowsy, hardly a surprise between everything that she's sleeping

Never heard that one before, just looked it up and there's a lot of references to it but they also say that the Titanic was due to deliver the Mayo to Vera Cruz outward from NYC but the Titanic was due to sail back to Europe on the 20th, 5 days after its sinking. Not to say that it wasn't carrying the mayo just some aspects might be suspect

Yes, but Mexico was to Receive the condiment on May 5th, thus the choice of that date for the commemoration.

All I can say is "It's no wonder Mexicans like Fenders!". By 5th of May the mayo would have turned to seafoam green. Perhaps that's where the colour came from?

So I sent the Tobacco Sunburst Vintage Pro Thunderbird back to Sweetwater. It wasn't a bad bass, but it was massive to the point if being clunky. View attachment 3009340 . Not a sleek thoroughbred like a Thunderbird should be. Beautiful grain but it wasn't enough to warrant keeping. It should be popping up soon at Sweetwater.

Did you weigh it?
