OK so this is probably just me but I really don't get this. A Mexican Fender, (I have one and I like it), it isn't a great bass straight out of the box with their crap pickups, that horrible bent bit of tin excuse for a bridge or a nut that even @GBassNorth would reject even with his issue ( ). So there is a thread out in the GP where the opinion is if you modify a MIM Bumper and improve it then it becomes worth less in resale value. OK I can probably understand it on an old original bass but what the fvck!!!???? It's probably me but it's like the village of the damned out there!

From the way he described it, the play list is almost all blues. The drummer/father knows and trusts his playing. He'll be fine. Probably have a blast.

I think there's only about twenty different blues bass lines. He probably already knows all of them and can fake the ones he doesn't. I'm sure he'll be fine!

Modifications are like that... gotta find someone that likes what you've done. I felt kind of lucky selling my modded Goth for as much as I got. They were good upgrades and it found a buyer that appreciated them.

Modifications are like that... gotta find someone that likes what you've done. I felt kind of lucky selling my modded Goth for as much as I got. They were good upgrades and it found a buyer that appreciated them.

Very true but even then they seem to be in the belief that they are worth less on principle. It seems if you mod a Gibby then that's fine but a Bumper, even if it is a worthless Mexican one, heaven forbid! It almost makes me feel like selling mine on principle so I don't own one any more

Same in the car world, actually any used market, no matter what modifications are done it loses value, even if they are upgrades.
