That's the one I'd pick (the one in your left hand). The one in your right hand (left side of the picture) has E string silks on the nut. If a previous owner can't take the time to string a bass up correctly then they probably aren't taking the time to oil the fretboard and adjust the truss and exersise the pots and tuners, etc. It's a pet peeve of mine. Other than that, go with the one that plays/sounds the best, is all original and is the lightest in weight. A lot of short scale players switch to that scale because of back and shoulder problems, so a light bass is usually a plus on the shorties.The one to the right...![]()
I may have been in that shop, is it the one on the main drag is SC (coming off of 17 and into the city) on the left side of the road just past the PCH. Lots of neat stuff in that shop.
