Thunderbird Club

The one to the right...:hyper:
That's the one I'd pick (the one in your left hand). The one in your right hand (left side of the picture) has E string silks on the nut. If a previous owner can't take the time to string a bass up correctly then they probably aren't taking the time to oil the fretboard and adjust the truss and exersise the pots and tuners, etc. It's a pet peeve of mine. Other than that, go with the one that plays/sounds the best, is all original and is the lightest in weight. A lot of short scale players switch to that scale because of back and shoulder problems, so a light bass is usually a plus on the shorties.

I may have been in that shop, is it the one on the main drag is SC (coming off of 17 and into the city) on the left side of the road just past the PCH. Lots of neat stuff in that shop.

BTW, I like Your solution. No chance of scratching the neck.:)
Yeah, I was finding it like this when I opened the case after transport...no bueno....All good now..

The foam can be removed so as to not alter the condition of the case which lucky for me is excellent.
Gotta love Velcro..

Nah, you're thinking of The Starving Musician. That place move to Pacific Garden Mall when Union Grove Music (right next to The Catalyst) closed doors. The location you're thinking about is now a parking lot..

My case was just like that but w/ that strap on the rib(s) by the 12th fret.

Been meaning to do this. Get the cab up off the floor. Remove as much cab to floor coupling as possible. Certainly not pretty, but hey, use what ya got, right? Huge difference in tone and controlled low end.

I use a piece of playground surfacing for exactly that purpose. It's heavy, made of rubber, and has a waffle pattern on one side. It's also about 4" thick, which means it provides both damping and an air gap. It's the best solution to stage coupling I have found to date.

"Playground surfacing"? We used to call that, "dirt".

Get off my lawn!

Quick question for the group on T- Bird value. Since they seem to be petty similar would a T-bird from 1990 be "worth" more than one from 2013, if all things are equal except the age?
They are similar from 1990 to present, with the exception of 2015 which has coil tapped DiCola or whatever those pickups are. There are variations in how the pickups were made, and all that, but as far as I can tell, they all sound fairly similar. I wouldn't think a 1990 is worth more than a 2013. Later ones might be a little lighter. My personal thoughts on 'Bird eras is that there was something in the water around 2001 that made them even better than normal, since my 2001 has some magic that the 1991 and 2015 don't have. The other two are just fine, but don't have whatever it is that makes the 2001 what it is.

As far as market value, I'm not sure why 'Bird prices would rise, but they seem to have been going up lately.

Interesting. Looks like someone added a horn and two side handles to it, not a bad price though. But I need another cab like a hole in my head, I think I'm up to...2 1x15s, 4 2x15s, 2 4x12s, and a 6x12...
If you're discussing how many speaker cabinets you have, and start by saying, "I think I'm up to...", I'd most likely agree that you don't "need" another;):roflmao:

That being said... if you should happen to stop in here & see a piece of candy on the table... the decision is always yours whether to pick it up or leave it for someone else;)

The strap on mine went from one side of that rib to the other w/ the permanent part on the G side of the neck.

Wonder if that was done aftermarket on your case...Does the strap/button look stock?

My 1976 Thunderbird case had a leather strap up by the nut. Check out this pic for what I am referring to. (And no, this is not my bass unfortunately.
