Thunderbird Club

Ever try weedwackers? I have a 1/2size 60’s plywood upright that had the head snapped off. My plan is to try out weedwackers when I repair it.
(My Englehardt has steel strings on it).

I’ve tried many types of whacker strings. Wish I loved em! Cheap, easy on the hands and last a long time. I just could never get decent tone out of em for what I like :/

You slappers and your guts! "

Ehem?

I so rarely get called for arco work. They musta heard my arco playing :)
Heavy steels for arco? YES!!! Sounds glorious!

Next thing you know you'll be adjusting bias with an app...
I can hear it now...
Me - Siri, can you adjust my bias?
Siri - Yes I can. What are you bias against?
Me - My tubes, they feel hot and might need a bias adjustment.
Siri - If you're truly bias against tubes, maybe you should try something Solid State.
Me - No, just adjust my tubes!
Siri - Would you like them tied?
Me - No, I just want my acoustics to sound better!
Siri - Acoustic amps already sound great and don't need tubes, are you biased against them?
Me - (muttering) nevermind.

Agreed!

Step one: Stop believing the hype that all 'birds are divers.

Step two: Stop believing that neck-dive is such a big friggin' deal anyway.

Once you've recognized these 2 things as fallacies... you and your Thunderbird(s) can enjoy a lifetime of playing any kind of music your heart desires... and look better doin' it:cool::thumbsup:

A colleague just built a Firebird for himself. It looks awesome too btw.

We were chatting about it all and he says ‘if I let it go, it just automatically falls down at the neck’.

I had a quiet chuckle... then entered to strap pin placement conversation.

Picking on you this morning :roflmao:

You know when I bought my first bird in 1980 I'd never heard of "neckdive", and I don't ever remember it doing so although admittedly I never gigged that bass. The first time I ever heard the term was when I joined Talk Bass, equally I'd never heard anyone complain about a bass/guitar being "too heavy", people just got on with it. What the hell has happened to rock and roll!?!?

There was a quote flying around in the UK media a couple of weeks ago from Roger Daltery stating that rock and roll died in 1971, I might not agree but he has a valid point on more than one level.

Oh that bass is too heavy! said the fat tw@t carrying 50lbs of excess weight, GO TO THE GYM OR PLAY THE FVCKING FLUTE!!!! If that winds anyone up, then good, you know what I think of you! So to answer the above "What the hell has happened to rock and roll!?!?" it seems to have turned soft, in need of a firmware upgrade!

Motoring through, it appears that @hillerup is about 20 pages behind! Within striking distance of being current!

A man of integrity. Doesn't matter when he gets there, but he does. :)

Caught up on 50+ pages! :)

See you guys again in a weeks time and 50+ pages! :)
