Getting a shot like that isn't taking a snap. it requires a lot of planning and light metering - I use a spot meter. And it requires slide film with a wide latitude (and knowledge of capturing the detail in black areas). Or with digital, taking a whole bunch of photos then cutting and pasting the pieces together.

My uneducated guess is that is a digital shot, RAW file, time exposure, with HDR layering as you mentioned.

The water is not photoshopped, but the boats are. For a long enough exposure to get the water like that, the boats would have moved. The boats are a separate exposure. On film you could do that with a very long exposure and a flash to isolate the boats.​

My uneducated guess is that is a digital shot, RAW file, time exposure, with HDR layering as you mentioned.

Technically, HDR is two (or more) exposures.... One for the highlights, one for he darks.

I would use slide because you can retain a great deal of detail in the shadows. The latitude of digital is roughly a dozen stops. Slide can get almost 18 if you know how to get detail in shadows. Negative can't be beat with more than 20 stops of latitude and a great ability to get detail in highlights.

I still don't do digital except for pictures with my phone. With my P67 and Nikon Coolscan, I get more than 100Mpx. Unfortunately, Kodak's bankruptcy has left very few options for slide processing for us hobbyists - I used to do mine in the kitchen using the Kodak 5L E6 kit. But c41 is still going strong and I can work with Ektar. But I still haven't found a better film for night shooting than Provia 100

I like both, assuming the first in each pair are the same I like the first, through my crappy laptop speaker it has a fuller darker sound

This is a challenge for me. I've not experienced either pickup in person, and have only the descriptions I've read here in the club, to base this on. My guess is that the first in each set is the Greco...

I like them both. But i can only speak for the CB. Greco darker, CB a bit more aggressive.

Yep, first of each clip is the Greco. Same RS66 (they need to be replaced). I'm surprised how similar they sound, the Grecos have a bit more lows while the CB are a bit more open and have more clarity on the top end. I'd also say the Grecos are a fair bit darker all around, with more emphasis in the mids, give them a bit of...rubberiness in their sound. To balance the volumes of the two, I had to raise the CB significantly higher than the Greco pup, which I had flush with the pickup ring. I think the perceived "aggressiveness" of the CB is largely due to the additional high and upper mid content, as the Grecos are much hotter. Ultimately I'd like to get even brighter and a bit more clarity out of the pickups, but maybe that's just pushing things too far towards Precision territory. Maybe I can have Curtis Novak build a sound-alike of my '62 pickups into a T-bird enclosure...ANYWAYS, that's all hypothetical, for the moment I am quite pleased with the CBs.
