Testing out my new Baxx Box preamp pedal from Duff2. It's a mini haz preamp in a pedal. Same as in my skull bass. Awsome preamp/pedal. I'll be replacing the pickups with emg 35 4p &J soon.

I was in the den of vipers the other day, (guitar center) and I noticed a schecter Nikki Sixx so I took a close look. First. Heavy as hell! Next, neck was very wide and thick, very baseball bat like. The construction looked very good and solid but I didn't play it.

I really don't like the shape but I do think it was a nice bass. Worth $1000? It looked like a set neck and the output jack plate was a cheapo football one. I was really surprised about the neck, bigger than any P bass. I'd say it should be about $700

I'm not a huge fan of the Schecter Sixx bass either. I totally agree the neck feels "too" chunky and it's overpriced.

Well, they had that orange-burst Pro IV awhile back and replaced it with the more, traditional dark burst, and they discontinued the trans black Pro IV, but I haven't heard anything about discontinuing the white one. I wouldn't be surprised if they upped the price of the Classics to $599. I always thought it was strange that they raised the price of the Pro IVs from $399 to $499 last March but not the Classic.

So I called Gibson. ..

Its true. For 2015 the classic pro in Alpine White is not being produced.
It may be back in 2016 but he didn't know for sure

Did overdubs for our latest tracks last night so we can get 'em to our amazing engineer/mixologist to mix and master them. I tried tracking with both basses and the TBird was the easier one to play; the neck is WAY slimmer. Our guitarist said "let's go back to the Charvel. The Tbird is too...bright". I said "If we need dark, I can go daaaaark." That Tonemonster preamp was a pain in the butt to install (thank God I didn't have to be the one that did it) but I love the range of tones from battery powered basses. By the time I rolled up the bass, backed off the treble a bit and favored the neck pick up, it was like black thunder.

I'll share those tracks once they're mastered and ready to go. The only downside of the whole process was that I didn't get to bed until 1 o'clock this morning. I went ahead and turned off the alarm and went in to work a little late today.
