Rosewood?!?!? Great. Here comes CITE. Batten down the hatches!

In this particular case, the fretboard in question is faux rosewood. Therefor I shall take advantage of the opportunity to use the phrase "cites... schmites":D

Better call it something else, faux pau ferro ? :)

My daughter & I just got back from an all ages punk show. The bassist in the last band had a 70’s Grabber and we went up to talk to him after their set. He showed me the bass -all original except for a Badass 1. I expected it to weigh 12 lbs, but it was about 8! What a SWEET bass!

Just want to say how really cool it is that you would take your daughter to a show (of any kind), my father didn't like any of my music and was not supportive of it - anyway, just sayin' that's very nice of you. :)

They won't care. "If it looks like rosewood, it must be rosewood! Prove to us it's not! And hey, that one's tainted from being so close, so we gotta take it, too. Yer in biiiig trouble."

The material in question is called Rocklite Sundari. The makers have informed all the customs people whoever they are and provided them with information about it and how to tell the difference. All is as they say kushtie.

Take a look at this thread about it, somewhere near the end I provide a link to the info customs have to tell Rocklite apart from the real thing. Rocklite: The Latest Synthetic Ebony For Fingerboards

I'll call it Rocklite Sundari, pays to be honest.

A picture of the stuff to show how good the stuff is

Alright.... So just got home from tonight’s gig. Three things......

1. I love a good crowd, and I love them more when they bring us drinks. It was a good crowd. I’m drunk, there.. I said it.

2. Day Glo Bird is a jacked up color. Red as a Baboon’s booty in the daylight, Orange as Carrot Top’s head under the stage lights. Plays well, and sounds great. Christine, you were right. The color does not do it for me. This one will be for sale. Sadly, it plays and sounds better than my other two birds. Aesthetics are important to me.

3. This one is big. YUUUGE. (Speaking of Orange). Where has this amp been all my life??? (I couldn’t afford it) The SVT Classic is absolutely amazing. I’m still in a dying shake. My ears and posterior are in a state not unlike fresh JELLO that has just been put in the fridge. I’ve had several amps over the years, but never an all tube SVT. The harmonics and overtones were hard to get used to. It threw me off a few times. The Classic produces sooo much sound. So thick and so rich, lik a freshly cut cake. The punch, the midrange grind, the top end attack. All there.

I would have died to have had this tone 20 years ago.

Forgive the pic. Just got home from the gig, and I haven’t collected the pics from followers

Very cool pic! That could be made into a music-box sculpture that slowly spins around to "Cherry Bomb" :bassist:
I've been thinking about your post off and on, yes I can see that but I was thinking if you removed Cherie Currie you could cut that into a cool marquetry picture inlaid into a Tbird, say on the back of the body. OK nobody would ever see it but that would be the point :)

You can't sell that, what will people think? Send it to me, I'll save you any further embarrassment :)

Seriously, if you like it why not spray it with rattle cans in nitro but leave the red underneath untouched so if need be you or someone else can cut back to it in the future? Just give it a wipe with alcohol and cut it with 1200 grit before spraying. Say a transparent colour like black or blue over the red?

I’m already embarrassed. Actually my lack of pride has made me impervious to embarrassment. I really like the bass, but aesthetically, it’s just not me. Big thumbs up for the Babicz, but Day Glo just isn’t one that I can’t live without.

Because I can’t justify having 3 Tbirds. I know that goes against logic, but I’m not that deep into music as a career. It’s a hobby. A fun hobby, but something tells me to let this one walk.

I agree, three Tbirds is wrong, get another and have at least four, you'll feel better about it then.

In all seriousness though, if it plays well why not paint it? You could get a cool effect over spraying with a transparent colour almost like a candy apple, or wear something red yourself like a blood splattered tee shirt type thing. It already looks OK, you're just being self conscious because of me teasing you. Look at the pics when you're sober (if ever)

Talking of sober, where is @ProgressiveDoom?

Pfffft. Hobby only, don't play out and i have 6 basses kicking round and I still think that I probably need* another bird or two. I mean really, I need one tuned BEAD and another back up one tuned BEAD just in case.

*need - a profound feeling of emptiness that can only filled with gear.
