That's funny. I read someone saying that a tube amp wasn't a tube amp cause it had a selenium rectifier for the bias.....

I've worked on tube amps quite a bit. To some, it' a tube amp if it has a single tube anywhere. That's just silly, IMO. To me, it's a tube amp if the signal chain contains tubes and no solid state. If the preamp or power amp are solid state, it's a hybrid. Trem oscillator? Don't care. Rectifier? Don't care.
Now "all tube amp"? That's where the fistcuffs start with some folk. I figure if it has a SS rectifier, it's just silly to call it an all tube amp. But hey, you do you. (Not you you, but the generic you.) Just be up front about it if you're selling it. "All tube signal path. Solid state nibbling at the borders, but ICE hasn't noticed."

I watched my dad-a machinist by trade-build a Heathkit and was totally bewildered. He and a friend had a business converting WWII Link trainers to be more sophisticated way before computers(late 50s). I'm quite certain we were the only family in Miami with a Link trainer in our garage! And, yeah, the smell of solder and that brown paste flux. Unfortunately, I never got any good at soldering.

Yeah in the GP, there is one guy in particular that pops in with that quite frequently.

I know 5/8s of SFA so I just keep my head down and shut up.

Nitro?

LED cured gel which is why it has lasted so well. It usually lasts for 2 weeks on my fingers without chipping but with cleaning my spray gun this last couple of days it has all peeled off and all I have is it left on my left thumb. Going to wait now until I've finished and I'll redo the lot
