I know, but I have to stand up for the Austin area GCs. They tend to be staffed with real musicians who know their stuff. Unfortunately, most of the purely local places have had limited stock, or catered to beginner or wealthy players. There are a couple of exceptions, and I frequent those as well, but they've just never had the range of products. A couple have started trying over the past ten years, but they were a bit late.
Before GC came to town, Mars Music was the big dog. They were vilified for their salespeople elsewhere, but again, in Austin they had working musicians. I never once had a bad experience there, or at GC here.
The best part? They freely admit when they don't know, and say so, and try to find someone who does.
