Does anyone know if the plastic risers for Lull pickups are for under the chrome rings or just some form of spacer for under the pickup itself? I want to get an order in this weekend but Bass Direct haven't got back to me

Mike's rings and spacers work together, more than likely you''ll need them. The pickup themselves are very thin and don't need a deep rout at all, the spacers hide the fact that in some cases you could possibly see under the pickup.

Thanks V :) That's what I wanted to hear, I have maybe 14mm (5/8") gap between the body and the strings where the pickup is likely to be, I haven't drawn it out yet but it will be similar to the neck pickup on the twins if I use the same bridge

I think have some pics on Photobucket, I'll post some later today when I'm at work...…….Busy building Model Trains right now.

Some thoughts on the new bird I'm building for myself, it will probably be having a Satinwood fretboard (think ancient maple with aged nitro for colour). I want a transparent red finish on the front but I've been thinking maybe I could veneer the fronts of the body in some fort of quilted Maple then rather than bind them I could blend them into the rounding over then do a candy apple over the sides and maybe the back but over gold not silver do it's a sort of candy apple burst. How does that sound? I'm actually having a lot of difficulty visualising it, I can usually see these things clearly

The bridge on these is, IMO, pretty good. sounds like a little neglect, but hopefully very reparable.

There was an issue with early ones not covering the B&G strings well. There was a replacement program so the vast majority should be fixed. I had given this thought with mine.; practice amps don't cover the low B well.

Not traditional `bird tone, but I like it none the less. It does sound 'active'.

AHEM.

Something like this?

That is a DiMarzio thing. I would put on Dunlops. Or, if you like Schaller, use those. With these DiMarzio straps, I can just imagine all kinds of bad things.

Let us know what you learn. I haven't looked that closely at mine to know, so I'm interested.

That looks like the strap.
I knew an ahem would follow.

Sounds luscious.

That's a real and unbroken '76 in the hands of one of my Facebook friends. I don't know Jo yet but I'll be meeting and hearing her live today for the first time just a few miles from my home at The Bone Road Music Festival in Fenton, MI. She's the lead singer and bassist for her band, 86 Noodles. Should be fun!

Here's that tone we all know and love!

She looks awesome!

Sounds like you should have a run at that.
