Thunderbird Club

The weight is down low. They are better than most SUVs and jacked up trucks.
Jacked up trucks have handling problems and can't corner at any great speed. But because of the long wheel base, are not in danger of rolling end over end even with a heavy engine positioned slightly behind the front wheels. "smart" cars on the other hand, weigh very little - if memory servers two passengers raise the gross vehicle weight by 60% or so - and since the occupants can lurch forward on hard braking, and the front is rather rounded, it looks like it would roll end over end upon hard braking.

Welp, heading to Europe Monday for a three week tour, hitting Germany, France, England, Denmark, Sweden and Spain! Sadly can't take the Thunderbird with me #1 because of not having a case suitable for flying and #2 because I'm rather concerned by CITES and not having a passport for my rosewood basses. Thus I'm taking a tuxedo/maple neck Precision. It had those '58 pickups in it but swapped them for the '62 Originals I also use in my other P, sounds so much better now. The '58s sounded hollow and lacking mid-punch and grunt. It's now a solid substitute for the Thunderbird and other Precision.

Hey, I have a really novel idea!
We could start a bass players club and talk about these kinds of things for a while...

Nahhhh... when we're going "at it", I hope it comes across as playful and lighthearted. Much respect to all that post here in the Thunderbird Club. A smart, talented and diverse bunch with many common interests outside of our favorite bass! :)

Hear hear !

I only use it when I "friend" people "online", "irregardless" of whether I'm being "wiretapped" as I enjoy a sip from my "hipflask".:smug:

Careful ‘online’ that you don’t get ‘honeypotted’

Reminds me of what I say at the DMV, "I am smiling".

We are not allowed to smile in drivers licence photos :bored:

I'm off to play a show tonight...…… I'll post a shot of my "office" if time allows.

Lawyers live and die by the Oxford comma. I don't know what kind of endorsement that is...

I’m guilty of using the Oxford comma.
Not a lawyer, a Capricorn

Ha! Well that oppression didn't last long did it? BTW, we don't really do "tea"..
Funny how things work, the other day I watched a recent UK film and the kids sounded more "American" than British.....hmmmm......guess you can't stop a good thing...;)

***** me here also. Even my kids use ‘sidewalks’ plus all the other terms we have discussed before....

Yikes! 475hp on roller skates! Could be way fun, or just plain deadly.
Probably ate the Porsche alive on the straights.

A rollerskate with 15” x 10” rear tyres...

Ya know, ya can't even buy models of the General Lee with the roof "decoration". Revisionist history at its best.

***** me that the models of old race cars come without cigarette company names now. It is no longer a snapshot of ‘how it was’.

so, no LHD cars and no smiles on licenses? What's up with that?
If you smirk unintentionally they take the pic again?....bizarre...
They do. Plus you can get growled at by a ‘public servant’.

Good quality ones come with removable stickers covering the cigarette company. Use masking tape to remove the sticker. Been like that around here (including NY state) for years

Well, between import taxes, the prohibition of LHD, there is nothing to smile about...;)
