Thunderbird Club

Once upon a time, I built models. I built furniture for a while, and will probably be getting back into that again pretty soon. Wood is a zen thing, too. I have been reorganizing and refinishing the shop portion of the basement with a coated plywood ceiling instead of open joists, painted walls, and will paint the floor soon enough. That way, there's light, because it's all white or light grey instead of soot and ground in grime color. Which means I can see what I'm doing for a change. Doing the ceiling carpentry, painting, and moving everything around to do those things has a meditative quality as well, although it's a lot of heavy stuff like long walnut 8/4 boards.

Oh man that bass is a dream.....8k!! It says "soft case" but they show the OHSC in the pics? Wonder which one's right. 8k without the original case seems high unless people refer to the OHSC as a "soft case"? hmm..
Maybe it's gotten soft with age- like my.......never mind.:sorry:

I wanna put tapes back on the Ibanez semi-hollow when the Chromes on it start going dead. I had a bad experience with the tapes(no fault of the strings), so I'm slightly reluctant. They did sound great, though. It(the bass)is similar to an EB-2.View attachment 3172385 [oops! forgot shoes]
Remove chromes? Sacrilege. Buy another bass instead and leave the chromes on forever.

I must admit, the Chromes are coming off the 7ender. Back to TI's. Cobalt Flats are king for the TBirds.
I probably just rubbed my nose in the mud.

But it is all personal preference. There's no right or wrong.
It's how it all holds up in a band context. At that point, it's not the strings that matter.

Well, ok. To some degree they do.

Played with the Dogtone last night, did Red Skies. Not sure this is making it happen- very fuzzy, half disappeared into the mix. Granted the room was profoundly affecting sound, and we ran the board ourselves, but I think what I need is some kind of result you'd get with a blend function- keeping the heft of the clean signal while getting the kind of distortion you want along with...
Not gigging enough yet to give it a fair run though. Gonna let it rest for now.

That’s why the DG stuff works well in that regard. The Vintage Ultra is an over all warmer sound then this. But depending on how you run it.........

We can't be having this reasonableness and humility around here! This is the royal court! What we do was ordained by powers way beyond human comprehension and must never be questioned by the unenlightened masses.

And, happy Monday, y'all!

:roflmao:, I'm just trying to hide behind all that.
