Thunderbird Club

It’s a camera bag. Me, with a gym bag? :roflmao:

Lucky. 'Round here, cyclists firmly believe they are entitled to run you over, back up to make sure they got you, run you over again on their way out and toss some profanity back at you for being anywhere within 500 feet of a paved surface. Bells? Horns? Are you kidding me?

In many cases, packs of angry cyclists have been known to take on semis, busses and cargo ships for having the audacity to be burning fossil fuels or carrying passengers/cargo inside rather than exposed to the weather.

This post may be seen as mildly facetious. :D

Cyclists 'taking on' semi's, busses etc? :cautious: Round here (and everywhere serious cyclists ride) there's an accepted saying; "the vehicle with the most wheels always wins" - and as a lifetime cyclist, ex-(road)bike racer of 25 yrs, and an avid motorcyclist - my primary goal is to survive on roads inhabited by angry distracted drivers while enjoying a couple hrs on the road in the sunshine.

Thanks Will. You understand how how i work.
I attributed my relative wiriness to an effective tape worm. Only problem is that the tape worm is now getting old and slowing down, so I can no longer eat everything that doesn't move away fast enough and get away with it. And, I actually have to do stuff like exercise to stay reasonably fit. Being old sucks! But, it beats the alternatives.

At least i'm still pretty active. A little exercise would do this alien some good though.

Oh, I'm completely active. I just have to be more intentional about it now. Jumping around with a bass, moving heavy stuff, walking around, taking the stairs, and all that used to be plenty. Now, I have to live on something less than 10,000 calories a day and actually think about things like muscle tone, proper lifting technique, and general physical maintenance. Jeez!

I always got the sense that you are pretty active. But i hear you so loud and clear.
I'm not at a calorie watching point yet, but i do pay attention to it.
Not easy getting older. But i look at @PillO who kayak's..................
Seems like you're doing all the right things.

I could use a little muscle tone. I haven't flabbed out yet, but it could happen if i don't watch out.

Not speed. Alien body chemistry. Jeff can corrode platinum, remember.
Actually Jeff has a tapeworm with a voracious appetite and fast metabolism. The by product is a chemical secretion from the tape worm that absorbs into Jeff's system and is dumped by his sweat glands, thus corroding stainless steel and Nickel with the greatest of ease. ;)

Like Will, i don't know how long the worm is going to exist, it's all such a delicate balance. What's a Chechen alien to do? :help:

All those threads about breaking in strings................

Clearly you have done some real in depth research on the topic. Modeling at it's finest, you are a master. When you say "scratch built" do you mean a mixture of different available molded kits to get to the desired car type? Or, going off drawing and pictures to recreate the chassis and bed from modeling (and other) supplies?
Very inspiring regardless. Wish I had more time to do piddle with scale models....so satisfying..:thumbsup:

The flatcar was indeed largely scratch built, I did use some parts for the brake system and the grab irons, the body itself is all structural styrene, I enjoyed the process of breaking it down to it's base shapes, I had a set of plans taped to a light box so cutting and measuring was a bit easier.

Here's a shot of one of the ends just prior to painting, you can see a few of the commercial parts like the ladder rungs.

I do "kitbash" models as well, it's quite a bit less work. This car was sectioned from a longer car. Regardless, model making is a wonderful pastime, I spend an hour or so at it every morning, it's very calming and a great way to start the day.

Triple LIKE:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: thanks.
A friend of mine saw me building a stick & tissue model once (from plans made from three views) and casually said..."you have found lifelong peace"....
