Ford Falcon - 289, 302 & 351. Then back to a new 302.
They also sold a Galaxie and Galaxie LTD for a while, I think it may have had a bigger V8.

Holden - 307, 327 & 350 Chevy plus 253, 308, 304 & 350 stroker Holden V8s.
GM-Holden made Holden’s at one time or another were exported to every Continent (except Antartica) under various badges... Holden, Vauxhall, Chev, Buick, Daewoo & Pontiac... even a mid 70s Mazda Roadpacer used a Holden body with a Mazda Rotary, Isuzu rebadged a circa 1971-4 Holden Statesman.

Holden assembled Chevy BelAir & Impalas; and Pontiac Laurentian & Parisienne. Both from GM Canada kits... so they had 327 then 350 Chev engines... yes even the Pontiacs.

Going back before the Holden car took off, Holden built or built bodies for, Aust sale Chev, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Vauxhall including utes for Chev & Pontiac. Also Chev, GMC, Maple Leaf & Bedford trucks.

Thanks RedVee. Pretty impressive, extensive recollection! Yes, some AMCs came with Chrysler engines here as well. Be curious to see the production numbers in Australia, since although I could not find gasoline pricing data pertaining to that country in the 70s prior to the emissions policing. If I extrapolate from current prices it would seem you guys are paying about 50% more than us and if this holds true for the 70s, a V8 would have been a luxury in your neck of the woods. As much as I dig exotic all aluminum high revving D/OHC V8s and V12s, nothing beats the low end torque, roar and fury of these things...
Would love to see and hear one of those Holden V8s in person..

Got an offer to buy a Custom Shop Epi Bird, w/ Bardens. Friend of mine in FL... I'll have to paint it though, it's an awful tint of mauve. I got an inspiration last night to give it a good sanding and get it sprayed the same gold Gibson used in the Gold Top Les Paul... put a cream colored pickguard and truss rod cover, chrome it up...

Mauve could work (especially if it is some sort of metal flake). But gold will be spectacular.

These are very good appointments. True business leaders with an interest in music. What I am now contemplating is how KKR plans on exiting. We might see a Gibson IPO in 2-3 years.

drop D tuners are super cool, something about that low D on songs like "The Wall" and others (of course) but sometimes they can be tweaky in holding the standard E tuning when you flip them back...
I've got this one strung BEAD for sub E stuff..works well..

I played the '01 with its new tuner earlier this week. It did really well, sounded just like itself, and had a low D when the song needed it. I have found them to be a little fussy, but once you get them settled in, Hipshot detuners seem to do pretty well for an evening, as long as you check between sets.

I've had issues with them in the past on other basses but the one on my Tbird stays 100% in tune for both D and E... it's almost unsettling how seldom I have to adjust the tuning on my TBird :cautious:

i believe it, unfortunately we have a singer who thinks different tunings in different sets help his voice so this adds to the tuning effort....poor dude...if he only knew...

Having something tuned DADG is way above my paygrade... I would have trouble keeping track of where notes are. Instead, I have my EB-3 tuned BEAD; then all the scales work just like they should. And there are some possibilities to some songs an octave lower, which can be fun.

actually easier than it seems. you just learn and memorize the part disregarding everything you learned of standard half and whole tones..
