I really had a 'thing' for the 69-70 Satellite. Loved the lines, etc. Eventually got a 69 (Ford Econoline van). <Edit>Before that, I had a '62 Impala ragtop, followed by a '63 Volvo PV544.

There's this bass player named Watt who rocked Econoline (and late 60's T-birds) - and somewhat similarly my 1st car was a '59 Impala convertible (shared with my older brother) and after a short stint with a '52 International 3/4 ton pu... got a '66 122s estate wagon. (none of these pics are mine but pretty much the same in every way)

Absolutely love the ‘66 “Amazon.”

I knew we were brothers. My first was a ‘59 544 with the b16, twin SUs. Loved that car. It was too unreliable to take when I left for college in ‘76, but sold it to a teacher of mine who was into old cars. Lost track of it about 20 years ago.

Loved my '63,b18. Woulda kept it but not quite enough room for basses/amps(my current Rumble 200c would fit but I couldn't wait that long). Thus started my love affair with vans-69 Ford, 74 Dodge maxi(8mpg), 76 Ford, 87 Astro, 95 Safari(still have, 268K miles), 96 Aerostar(still have, 329K miles [529474 km]).

Amazon? Are you saying a 122s wagon was referred to as that somewhere in the world? I loved it too - my favorite car I've owned. It was 10 yrs old when I got it and I had the engine rebuilt (like new) and it looked just like that pic other than also having the deluxe chrome roof rack.

Funny story. Got my license on my 16th birthday. We were playing the after game dance (basketball) that night. On my 544, the rear seat back just popped out. Could haul a surprising amount of stuff. So I’m driving myself to the dance. Bass, Fender Bassman 50 (don’t ask) and 2x12 cab in the back. Came up to the four-way stop at corner by school and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. The Sheriff who watched me run through it was real nice and called my Dad, who came with a bottle of brake fluid. The leak wasn’t too bad, but the master had run dry. Had a great time playing that night, one ninety minute set, and learned how to rebuild a brake cylinder the next day. I learned a lot about cars owning that thing.

Yep, Volvo marketed it under the name Amazon for at least a few years. I used to have an old manual that also referred to the wagon as that.

Funny - it was hardly an "Amazon" (thinks - late 50's Chrysler or Buick) but it was a very nimble 4-on-the-floor wagon!

Yep, old Volvo’s were pretty rugged. Very simple and easy to fix. Parts were mostly standard. The only downside to mine was the Bosch 6 volt system with a generator. Not as terrible as the British cars of that era, but pretty bad. For the PVs, the Swedes basically copped the ‘40 Ford and built something that could handle the horrible roads and harsh weather in Sweden while the country hurried to get infrastructure built as they began to boom after the war. Volvo built some great cars over the years until Ford bought the company, ra**d it, then sold it off to the Chinese.
