Love Nels. You’re right, he is a freak of nature. He can play any genre of music, but you know that it’s him playing.It's why both kinds exist. Being an artist I've never been one to slam friendly "freaks" - it's an endearing compliment among friends and admired creative people. Now, the freaks that are in the world doing grossly, deliberately negative things - that's on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have always considered uber-guitarist Nels Cline a freak (of nature) as he's in a field of his own. Jaco was a freak. There are many levels of 'freakdom' and some are only perceived as such because of where the labeler is situated on the scale of square</>freak.

It's funny, I've played with two drummers who favor Bud and similar beers. Just easy to drink I guess...
I use the Colonel Flagg approach. I tell people I'm not Geddy so that they think I'm Roger Glover. It keeps people from figuring out that I'm really Gene Simmons.

Being in the Bay Area I've been lucky to see him numerous times over the years starting in the mid 90's. At one point we were on a first name basis, but now that his career has expanded I never expect him to remember me and am surprised when he does.
Even saw him once with Wilco, who I generally don't follow - but their show was amazing and Nels was a big part of that.

One, they want it in a plane brown box so a postal employee doesn't take it for their Volvo - and two, a big box will be harder to go missing than a small box.

Had a gig at a brewery today, half dozen bands played, at least two thunderbirds in attendance, my Greco and the band right before us had an Epi Classic Pro, my band mates kept jokingly asking if someone had stolen my bass.
