Thunderbird Club

To my knowledge. They were never known to be light weight.
But awesome all the same in the tone department.

This was my introduction to one - changed my life it did

1957-Ford-Thunderbird.jpg That's also a pretty rare sexy rig... My uncle Josh had one just like this; 1957 T-Bird, with the detachable porthole top, and Continental kit. Also had the big block 312cid engine - and the Paxton blower. It was... a runnin' machine. He bought it new, and he kept it 'till the day he died. His wife hated it; can't imagine why... She pestered him about it constantly, and never would ride in it...

Do you get all your kit into that AMC ?

I read an article on the Aust version of the Camaro this morning, very complimentary and played up the positive of the price - they’ll be much rarer and “exclusive”. :D

I’m thinking if I was looking to spend $85k (I’m certainly not!) I could be tempted... but prefer the car on my study wall, the November 18 calendar girl...

We did another nursing home visit this morning. We cut down the “Aussie Favourites” list by 4 or 5 songs and threw 5 Christmas songs on at the end as we won’t get back to this place again before Christmas. 2 more shows for this year both will be Christmas theme. (Just singing).

Oh yeah, our main female singer was our conduit to this location as she works casually there. She had been off work after a back op so wanted to throw an old favourite on after everything else - so that was cool. “We’ll meet again” by Vera Lynn.

Now, of course, our group were talking after and the bright idea came up “let’s do songs from the ‘30s & ‘40s next year” & “plus sing-a-long songs”.

... and I’ve just been looking for country bass lessons

I guess I’m learning stuff. But we really need to get a guitarist- I wanna get the bass out again.

View attachment 3217661 To all those who got the VP right away, did your bass come with black spacers on both pups? I got my VP this spring with a spacer only on the bridge. I got one via Thunderbucker Ranch. I like it - more consistent.
Yup, got me one of those as well..

....wonder if all IV TBirds had them stock..

Surprisingly my 2 X 10 fits the trunk. I don't use it to haul gear though, was just driving around the venue earlier. Aust Camaro? You mean like the new ones?
That Monaro is a bitching ride....If exported I believe it would have been very successful..

It would be a blast to play bass in a full-on reggae band - it's the most important instrument! :bassist:

That is hilarious!
It sure is fun to be able to turn up really loud because thats expected.
The flip side I realized is you really have to be on your game, because you’re carrying the whole thing:cautious:.
My Casady works tonally, but its prone to feedback when I’m standing in front of an 810 at the rehearsal space.
I think I need a bird with flats, so I’m gonna sell my Jazz Bass Special.

yep - ...had black spacers under each foot of the covers also.

On Reverse and BiCen neck pups only under the side without a pickguard. Not under bridge covers on Reverses, BiCens or NRs, no need.

They were only used to even up height when necessary.

In a way a few basses could work - the "classic" bass used by the legends (Robbie Shakespeare, Aston Barrett) would be a (70's) Jazz but the low-tones come more from the amp than the bass. Neck pu, full bass on the tone control and all the treble stops off the amp. I can imagine 18" drivers (depending on the need, maybe 2) would deliver that room rattling deep-bass response that envelops the space with low end. The venerable Acoustic 360 comes to mind.

Out of the basses I own, through my Ampeg B-15N and w/o brand or model bias - the bass that delivers the roundest, sweetest pillow-like tone is my '66 P-bass with nickel wounds. Would love to hear it at reggae-gig volume through an 18". A close second would be my '65 ss Teisco Del Rey with flats. Something about the pu's. Having said this, I heard a 'deep-bass' reggae band once where the bass player played a Yamaha headless (looked like a Steinberger) that sounded huge.
