Came out when I still lived there as a teen - everyone I knew loved the song but had no idea why it was named that... "...Omaha way... from where we came" ??? Skip Spence (who wrote the song) was Canadian born...



In 2008, Skip Spence's song "Omaha" was listed as number 95 in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".[13] The song was described there as follows: "On their best single, Jerry Miller, Peter Lewis and Skip Spence compete in a three-way guitar battle for two and a quarter red-hot minutes, each of them charging at Spence's song from different angles, no one yielding to anyone else."[13] Writing in 1967,[14] shortly after the album's release, Crawdaddy! creator Paul Williams described "Omaha" as "the toughest cut on the album (and) one of the finest recorded examples of the wall-of-sound approach in rock. It surges and roars like a tidal wave restrained by a seawall."[15]

I would try to save the neck because i like that headstock, but the neck could very well be crap. If so that body would make a cool fenderbird.
I would just put a regular F type bridge on it and hide it under the cover.

@JIO is in a much better position to take that on than I am. But the neck could well be ok. The neck on the Silvertone in my Avitar (which I don’t count among my players these days) is remarkably straight and the truss rod works fine. That Teisco has the same tuners and bridge as the Silvertone. I’d like to see that bird kept as a “road worn” though. If @JIO picks it up, I would like the bridge to replace mine should it get changed out....

I just finished cleaning and setting up an old Squier Strat that was given to me (except I didn’t have time to level and crown the frets) and cleaned up an old Carvin Pro Bass 100 amp over the holidays and there are way too many other projects waiting to get done. It took me quit awhile to get to those relatively simple projects.

View attachment 3228986 Just got a Bc Rich SE zombie for 140 which came with a 50 dollar strap llololol it’s thicker, wider and longer.... so the neck dive, extreme weight, and feeling like I’m standing beside the Gibson Nikki Sixx Blackbird instead of right over top of it...all gone. Awesome. It’s surprising how much changes by simply dropping the bass lower and of course a different strap. A little harder to play but it has a forced minimalist effect on you. Lol

A very different feel and therefore approach to picking or plucking... different rhythms and accentuation. It’s like playing a different instrument and I must admit if feels and looks cool as hell. I’ve always been more about function and kept my instruments high.

I had to look up Stroessner, but yes. Jeez the guy ruled from 1954 to 1989! My parents moved the whole family (7 kids) to Canada a few months before I was born in 64.

Yes mate, in a guampa that gets passed around was part of that Mennonite culture. I rarely drink it these days myself, but have relatives that do.

According to a friend who was in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, it's not an ideal place to be. She can be a bit dramatic. I haven't been there to verify.

My mom never wanted to go back, but I still have relatives there. It seems to be ok for them, living in their enclaves, but I’m sure it’s not such a great place for much of the population.
