Thunderbird Club

@TBird1958 I meant to say good score on the 8x8. Those are really good cabs, bet it's a good pairing with the GK.

It's 6 10s, but yes, it's sweet with the GK, I sat down and played the Lull thru it last night - much sweetness!

although these are very nicely constructed and sound fantastic, English electronic design has long suffered from from a poor reliability stigma..
as @GBassNorth pointed out, Lucas was/is (?) an English car electrical systems manufacturer (similar to Bosch) that was known for goosey products and largely responsible for the bad rap otherwise excellent English sports/luxury got in the 60s and later..

Ok, thanks I get it now. A friend of mine had sent his Ashdown Evo-II 500 for repair several times, eventually sold it for a loss. That's kept me off them since.

So this is actually happening... my repairer/builder freind got bits and a new laminate trimmer/router, so I got my blocks Epoxy'd in and brought the bass over to his house today. I know this isn't very 'Birdlike, but it's getting me on the way to one...

The Lucas vacuum. Only thing they ever made that didn't suck.

I had multiple British cars built from 1954 to 1972. The Prince is a familiar foe.

Roger...............Shoe! :roflmao:

OYE!!!!!!!!!!, How did i miss that, never heard the 6x10. But they get rave reviews.
I can only imagine how the Lull sounds through that rig.

I was really drawn to it in part because of it's size, not all that big. I get all creamy when I hear my 'Birds through it.

Forget the problem with the string... that's the coolest up close pic I've ever seen of a TBird!

That pic has so much character, it just screams mojo and back story. Would make a fantastic album cover for a Lynard Skynard or Motley Crew type cover band.

I can just picture zooming out from that close up and seeing spent Jack Daniels bottles, smoldering cigarettes, leather vests and biker boots with chains strewn about the wood floor along with a pair of black stilettos and skimpy silk lingerie draped over a black leather sofa. Ok - enough of that!

What you need to solve your string problem is the three point bridge mod bar. It pulls the ball ends back far enough so the string overwraps don't rest on the saddles. An inexpensive fix... GIBSON® EPIPHONE® BASS BRIDGE 3-POINT (MOD-BAR!) | eBay
not positive but someone in the club may also be selling these or something like them.

Well.... I think that could be arranged.... best I could arrange on short notice...., her skimpy silk and stilettos aren’t here, don’t drink or smoke anymore though and the walls are wooden not the floors. Your vision was very close. I’m a pretty gnarly looking biker dude. Long hair and beard as long as my forearm. Impressive for a young guy. I always make my birthdate 06/06/66.... Im 20 years younger. Notice he eye the last owner painted on there. I’ll take some more pics

Got it like this. Pretty sure neck dive had a lot to do with it. Guitar tech said he could fix all this stuff.... the neck was fixed but the repair was not hidden. No intentions of fixing any of it. I love the freedom of something that isn’t perfect. I don’t beat things up but I don’t want to feel like beating anyone up, including myself, when things happen either...

I like the eye and the history behind it. I love all the stuff that predates our modern religions...

The cover up by the toggle switch...not sure what they were th8nking. Theres a hole at the Center. I’m assuming they tried to drill but it doesn’t even line up with the control cavity on the other side.

The cover paint looks like a thunderbird on an inverted cross...

All very cool so I won’t change. I wrote something about the freedom of carelessness that’s enabled when things are imperfect. Also wrote about the resulting death when you deny a person or a thing it’s purpose. To put something on a pedestal or in its case or stuck in the garage because you’re too afraid something will happen to it..... How I only clean my guitar when I change the strings. Only clean the motorcycles when I feel like it or someone else is cleaning theirs. I know too many people who don’t use their beautiful things because they shudder at the idea of having to clean them again. I don’t want to feel uptight. Guitars and basses in cases aren’t as played as the ones beside your bed or on your couch, on the stands... whatever. I can’t walk 5 feet without seeing a guitar.... and I have a hard time walking past them without playing... even for a little bit.

Unfortunately I wrote most of it in a thread it didn’t belong so now it’s gone...

The other bit is in the Zombie thread. BC RICH ZOMBIE SPECIAL EDITION

I think I’m going to give a very mild truss rod adjustment of 1/4 a shot....loosen then tighten... I put it in BEAD to take some tension off until I was ready to do it or have it done... I might keep the zombie in that tuning... it’s fun. Get me familiar for when I start playing a 5 string.

Something I normally wouldn’t consider, but a very close friend sent me some of these decals.
There is some personal significance to it. Which will probably lead to a tattoo. But In the meantime. This is how I will
position it. I haven’t applied it yet, and it’s easily removable. But I like it.

Wow, never seen those. I was going to suggest a tailpiece or hipshot...
seen that with some string brands in the past....annoying..

I've always wanted an ashdown rootmaster amp, played through a few evo series & man they sound just sweet!!

But after finding my peavey century head at a pawnshop & my swr 410 goliath used for dirt cheap altogether, i've never went back. In fact i found another peavey head, & i picked up a GK 400RB too just as a "newer" solid state amp. But i might sell that one soon, it's nice & all - but my sound is from the Peavey for sure.
