That bass is soooo pretty, I don't take it out all that often so it's in really shape even though I had it done at least 10 years ago. I took it to Mike Lull, it likely went to Michael Dolan, pics don't really do it justice as it's really a step above in quality - way better than one that Marty Bell painted for me. Anyway, it was a cool 1K to get it done, the bass was a wreck when I got it, didn't have all it's parts or pickups or finish so there was no where to go but up from there, not bad for a first restoration

Those look amazing! I even really like the Jackson, even if I'm not able to pull off a sparkle finish myself.

Do you happen to know if they stripped the old finish first? Or was this sprayed over? If it was sprayed over the old finish, did you notice much increase in weight? Not that it would stop me, but I'd still like to know.

Because we do (mostly) 60s/70s rock and light jazz, I like a mellow-ish tone. But the Chromes that had been on my '67 were getting old, so I tried the EB Cobalt Flats. I have to roll the tone on the 'neck' pup from 7-ish down to 5-ish to keep from being too bright but I like having the flexibility with just a minor tweak of the bass. BTW, I was messing around w/ the bass earlier and turned on the bridge pup for a coupla minutes. Nope! My TB IV might as well be a TB II.
ya forgot to mention that precious missing Honduran mahogany from the bridge pup..:D

So, I passed on that Epi TB Pro once I saw that GC is doing their used financing thingy, and simply grabbed another Gibby TB, supposedly in great condition, but I've been burned on that more than once. Thank goodness for their generous return policy, but this isn't the thread to discuss GC.

This will be my second Gibby TB, however I'm thinking I'll probably refinish it (not me, having a pro do it) somewhere down the road and wondered if you any of you folks have experience with any of the main Google results that pop up. I was surprised to learn that regardless of how big Texas is, there really aren't any people here that do refinishing. I mean, we are a pretty big state, yeah? Regardless, I'd love to give a Gibson bass an emerald green finish someday, seeing as how I've never seen Gibson release a bass in that color, so I can't just go out and buy one.

Any thoughts on where to take my future business?
I do not know where to take it, but I think it will look spectacular.

Here's a fun one, not sure if it's been posted before, i can't keep up anymore.
Anywhos. A modded EB-O that Gene Simmons once played or belonged to him.
I love it.

SWR was on the map for a reason - :bassist:

Just sucks that Fender bought them out back when (in 03 or 08 when SWR line was cut short). I've been listening to Ampeg 410 demos online & i'm actually surprised i don't like them more in real life. Maybe just a lack of really pushing one through its pace to my own music. Of all the bands i listen to, at least the older stuff, for sure ampeg was in the forefront of recording.

EDIT: I'm keeping my eyes open for another Goliath II or Eden of the same range. There's a Goliath III in my area for 400$, i'm debating.

That’s genius placing the amps on Dollies! Obviously you want to try them on the ground but that a much better setup. So much wear and tear just moving things around.....only down fall....someone could clear that place of amps quick.....

There wasn't much of the original finish left on the '76, I'm certain it was stripped though, old paint doesn't do you any favors when you're trying to apply a new finish. No change in the weight at all from the paint.

Recently found this great photo of Glenn Cornick, probably 70 or 71. Hiwatts into Orange (4x12s and an 8x10?) with his Inverness 'bird.

Just reading your Sig or whatever I should call it. I’ve spent probably 80 percent of my life playing electric guitars and basses without being amped....for many reasons....

I feel it was a bit of a mistake...much was lost or not made present. I do notice that I often prefer the sound of my instruments unplugged....I often which I could somehow eq it to sound exactly the same.... no colour... no high or low peaks just a nice compressed even sound.... I’m usually trying to get that once I plug in. So much time just sitting around all hours night and day...couch, floor, bed, refusing to put it down but not bothering or being able to plug in. I love watching tv and playing for hours.
