Thunderbird Club

Well, off to Paris today for a gig on Tuesday...back on Thurs..

Incidentally, gigged with Dillon Rose last night in Capitola and had a couple of drinks with his dad Jim Rosenberg (recently retired Epi CEO) and we discussed exotic woods and their availability (turns out Korina is a strain of mahogany Gibson invented that name for) and the VP TBird. He explained some of the effort required to offer that fine instrument at such an attractive price. I brought up the topic of a NR VP and expressed the interest out there for an instrument like this. He casually mentioned there was some talk and that he could relay my input..
I told him an NR II would be a compliment to the existing reverse VP line...we'll see.
Anyway, you guys have a great week!
Paris Texas?

This bass keeps dropping in price... down, down, down. Maybe next time you don't paint your bass pink burst. 45 minutes from my house. I know there's a collectible pink burst that the Epiphone Custom Shop made for charity that is pretty sweet but this guy had to know that painting it this way made his bass less sellable. I guess if my daughter played bass and wanted it, I'd get it for her but I see few reasons a guy would want this bass.

Of course October is breast cancer awareness month and that would be cool for a musician to rock shows with this month.

Did this ever sell?

Wish I could have been there

Time to get that bridge!
I didn't hear many opinions on the Epi Pro-V replacement bridge. I think there were two or three for Hipshot A and one for Hipshot B. I have to admit the A looks pretty awesome.
The Babicz FCH-5 looks cool, but the spacing is too large (.75" vs .656").
I like the idea of the Schaller roller bridge, but haven't heard anyone mention it, and it's not clear new ones are available...
Probably going for the Hipshot A in black, unless our resident bridge builder now has some for sale in 5 string black. 8^)

Taking a yellow jacket?

I’m enrolled in a Tuesday night jazz “ensemble” class and that’s the tone the instructor seems to like. My daughter is involved in the music school - To keep the peace, I have refrained from telling him to F off.
I have also met some really cool musicians there,
Sounds like it’s time to put her in a more open minded music school :roflmao:

I played this yesterday...…………………drool

The neck is beyond belief, so good. Hand shaped by Mr Lull.

Not to be blasphemous But I keep picking these up and am totally surprised by how amazing they feel. They sound and feel great unplugged. There is much to be gained from playing a bass that you can really “hear physically” through touch and contact. I know it sounds weird but I’m all over it. It’s one of the things that makes me like bass more than guitar. Even a solid body bass resonates more strongly than a semi hollow guitar. I was a kid when I heard about Beethoven becoming deaf and playing/writing by placing a wooden dowel or something like it between his teeth and the body of the piano..... I’ve never fact checked this so I’m about to... it’s funny the things you take for granted... having never actually check3d.

It seemed like it was part of the cause for the intensity

That's a super cool bass. Nice!!!

Haha! I suppose I should have said that I'm exaggerating for effect. I guess more realistic options would have been along the lines of "thick single coil" or "warm humbucker". I'm really looking forward to the bass, and hope it all works out, especially now that the Guild idea didn't seem like the right fit.

I'm really curious about the switches, especially after the Guild had some odd custom switches of its own, like a kill switch that only affected the neck pup, and a high pass filter toggle. Interesting for sure, but not really that useful for my purposes. If it were just two switches, I would have assumed coil tap or something along those lines, but 3? Maybe someone tried to turn it into a G&L L2K? I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

Does this Bi-Centennial have a natural finish?
Ooops, just saw the post of it. I've seen that not long ago, very curious to hear what it's like.

I was walking through the grocery store and there was a little girl in a cart singing "Do You Know the Muffin Man" and I had to smile: initially because I remember my daughter being that age, but then because all I could think about was this song

Of course i'm all about those '77 shows at The Palladium
