Thunderbird Club

Welcome back!

Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, if memory serves, are a Toronto band. They provided the theme song for Kids in the Hall. I had no idea they were still together; I don't think I have spared a thought for them since something on the order of 2000.
Thanks! And yes, Toronto. Apparently they did all the music from Kids in the Hall. Said Thunderbird appears in at least a couple of versions of the intro.

Is that bass something you can show and tell?
Sure, from a post I made earlier in this thread...

.....Not a thunderbird or even a Fenderbird, but it's a very rare Rainsong graphite A/E bass custom made for John Entwistle. In talking with Rainsong they estimate they only made 4 or 5 total Acoustic Electric basses, one of them was customized to John's specifications and he took delivery of it in 1997. Here's a pic of him playing it outside the House of Blues in Los Angeles...

I bought it from Jimmy Haslip about 10 years ago, he got it from John. Here's some current pics of it (ignore the crazy reflections on the frontal shot)...

The graphite weave is striking...

Of course John had great taste in inlay selections...

It really is a phenominal sounding and playing bass and projects much better than any A/E bass I've heard. I don't currently have a recording of John playing the bass but Dean Felber from Hootie and the Blowfish had one of the very few other Rainsong basses made and used it on an MTV Unplugged video, enjoy...

Lol got a dog.
I so want a NR! Love your collection. Never tried one but they look like they just hang so naturally. Now that Gibby is under new management, I'll give them or Eppi one more year to come out with a NR reissue. If nothing happens by then, it's off to the used market for a vintage one, or possibly a custom build from Carlo.

I never even knew what NR was for the longest time...I’m not attracted to them but like you said I’m sure they hang nice. I also dislike dot inlays. Doesn’t do enough for the fretboard...
Were there ever any inlays besides dots on stock Gibson TBs? Blackbird has iron crosses obviously but anything else?

The Goth has a Roman numeral at the 12th fret.

The '64 is familiar, perhaps from The Dudepit. The Epi body/Lakland neck is a stunning bass, all quite beautiful - Thank you for sharing them here with us.
Your Pelham Epi is so cool...so I guess it’s a Lakebird?
I personally think a 5th string on a short scale Tbird would be awesome. It would make a fantastic full scale Thumb rest!;) Pretty much useless for anything else.

Kudos for the puppy (an Australian Shepherd?) who looks to be quite happy with her human pets in the house. I'm guessing she has visions of doggie treats dancing in her head. I'd also bet the pup got a few new toys under the tree as well, maybe a zebra striped squeaky chew toy.
Oh, the Newcastle is a great choice as well!

The pup is our eight year old Cavalier, Romeo. Not in the pic is his five year old cousin, Bevolio aka Benny. They had a wonderful Christmas; new toys, treats and tons of attention. I got a new pooper scooper. Our daughter came home from Jackson, WY in October and decided to take this ski season off so she decorated the house and got us in the spirit. We’ll miss her when she leaves in February, off on a new adventure.

I listen to a lot of surf/instrumental bands on Spotify and they pop into my Daily Mixes all the time. I’d love to see them live.

I know I've seen a 210x115 Peavy cab that I'd like to have for a basement practice rig
There's a few guys in Rumble Club who use a Rumble 200-or 500-head and 2 1x15 cabs. Lotta oomph.<Addendum>FWIW, I have the R200c and 112 cab but rarely need both.
