Thunderbird Club

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Golden Boy or the 2015 Oddball, mainly because I have plans for the other basses, and it leaves at least one bass as extraneous. Of course, I could bypass the BEAD thing entirely and just pick up a 5-er down the road. Hmm.....

There is another option. Pick up an Epi NR from the 90's. Get the 5 string version or get the 4 and string it BEAD. The tuning keys are lined up the opposite of a "normal" bass and has the E string tuner at the furthest point. (See pic) The extra length can help keep the string from being too floppy** if you went BEAD. Change the nut, add strings......done!! I plan on trying this with my white NR but just haven't gotten around to it. Probably because there really isn't a need for that tuning in our band.

you and your wife must be over 6'1" tall (or you didn't st up the seat properly) cause they are surprisingly roomy. An important aspect of the design philosophy used the Japanese credo "Jinba ittai" which translates to "rider and horse in one body" so you kinda "wear" a Miata. That said, the early ones (never drove a post 92 model) were pretty much toys. Not very practical in that there's really no trunk space and the gearing is such that at 70 or more miles an hour consistently (as on a long highway road trip) the little 4 revs at about 6 grand and the drone gets really loud and tiring. They are perfect second cars to tool around the beach and hilly backroads.
Well we are both 6ft tall. I liked the car.

View attachment 3276022 Here’s Geddy Lee Of Rush with a Thunderbird on the R40 Live tour in 2015.

Not a reverse, but Geddy bought this from I guy I know. I was interested but it was in his personal collection. I guess Geddy made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Noticing all the T-Birds on the wall, it seems he apparently likes some Bird on occasion.

Same '64 below but the color is washed by lighting and you can't tell it.
