I dig the Sandberg. I like effecting distressing done successfully, but not sure about the ciggy burn on the hs. I totally get it, but just would ask that it not be done to a bass I owned. It's a part of the romantic notion of smoking that I'd prefer to watch in a movie but not participate in.

Seriously - I moved here in 1990, before the smoking ban went into law. I'd come back from a show smelling like an ashtray with burning eyes - hated it. Life is good since and I go hear more music because of it!

After I bought my very played (used) '86 Kubicki Factor I sent it to Phil to install a fretless neck. He called to confirm a couple things and asked if I wanted the crescent shaped gouge next to the neck pu filled and touched up. (black) I said, I kinda liked the signs that it had been played to which he replied, "if he would have only trimmed his fingernails..." :D Long live Philip Kubicki

hear ya (smoker too) I remember as a kid flying to Italy to see my grandparents (on the old Pan Am 707) and just after take off the back of the plane looked like Burning Man (my mom in there with all of them).....pretty gross..

Ha!!!i hear ya on that one. Was on many a flight when there was smoking allowed on a commercial flight. Was totally disgusting. Many a story to tell on all that, but i digress. And just loved the 707.

Wow, I'd love to see what you come up with. The problem here is the three mounting points. I guess as long as you don't mind those around.

I'm no expert on this, but i'm guessing that at least the 2 outer posts could be covered by the bridge, and if not. I'd come up with some strange idea to make it work. It's still just a thought on all this. Whether i act on it is another story.

:roflmao:
Should see the gouge above the pickguard on my '61 P-bass! Spans probably 3 inches and half inch wide in the centre.
And the knobs are worn down at least past the knurling!
