Thunderbird Club

okay... i tried to get an active pro for 250€ but didn't finde one... so I bought a classic pro sunburst used for 300.... selling the tb+ for 100 makes this a good deal.

Will the hipshot ultralite "elephant ear" Tuners fit a bird? I think so?

Short answer: Yes they do...

Longer answer: They make some specific for the Thunderbirds with slightly smaller "clovers" so they don't touch each other when in line, but they are not on their website...

You have to get in contact with them to order them instead of the regular ones.

are those much more expensive? the normal ultralites are 45€.

I have a set of chromed warwick Tuners, maybe I'll use them instead of the ultralites if those turn out to be much more expensive.

No idea about pricing, but I think it's more or less the same as the regular ones - You just have to call them, that's what other members of the Club has done - Maybe they can comment on this?

Have a Levy's I like it, but the Gibson slingshot has gotta be the best strap I've ever owned!
Dude - I just got the slingshot strap. Wasn't expecting it to be delivered until tomorrow. Realized it came yesterday so before I left for work I adjusted it and put it on my 'Bird. Holy cow! I'm now even more psyched to play my first show tonight with my new Gibson! This strap is awesome. I hope is delivers for two hours straight that we have tonight.

It is super comfortable and no neck dive cause it's grippy! I've bought four of them.

Stig Pedersen has some funky Tbird style basses...

Thanks for the info Carlo, according to the picture it looks like the rings and the pickup cover fit great too. Since I'm going to make the Epi Pro 5 passive, considering the Thunderbuckers, any recommendations for brand/value of pots I should use? Can all the recommended parts be purchased from Thunderbucker Ranch or will I need to get those on my own? I don't know much about pots and correct tone pot values/capacitors etc...
My former active Pro IV has Lace Alumatone Bass Bars in it. It's also fretless and doesn't sound like you would expect a Thunderbird to sound, but those pickups fit. There are some quirks you have to be aware of when installing them, including the fact that you cannot have anything metal touching them or they will ground out and make no sound. I like them well enough to have Alumatones in a guitar as well.
