Wow, just cruised though the Basses forum and read the daily pissing match of fender v squiere.

This is the best thread on this board for just that reason, there isn't that here.

7ender Cannibals!

They eat their own!

You should see the abuse I'm taking via anonymous email about the price on my Armstrong on the local craigslist. At $2200 CAD, it's the cheapest bass in the best condition on any of the major gear sites. Every couple of days someone is emailing swear words or calling me a chump or a loser or that my pricing is moronic. Ya, terribly sorry your mom won't give you the money for a vintage bass. It takes all kinds.

Yeah, I see it all the time- there are a lot of losers out there. Sad bit is a lot of them aren't adolescents.

It's amazing, really is. I guess that's why i rarely venture out of this thread anymore.

It's often difficult to be civil - I try to be a good Queen, even to 7enderites :roflmao:

TBird players already know they look cooler than other bass players because TBirds are cooler. Because of that, we don't have to get bent about two styles of bass that are just as boring now as they were 50 years ago.

;)

We're serious about TBirds and playing bass...and not all that serious about all that other stuff.:D

Ditto.
It is so tiresome. If it's not that it's vintage sucks, is this piece of cr@p a real Fender (with the obligatory lecture about putting Fender decals on things that aren't)? or Gibson's are the cause of the end of the world as we know it.
EOR

I had to laugh over Goats and his Craig's list issues. I finally started blocking senders the last time i sold a bass that was more than just a used beater. They offer like half what you ask and then seem offended.
Or they want to trade a gently used sheep or some of the wall trade, even though you stated no trades.

Keep em honesty Geoffy!

Very well said.

Mostly I wish the 7ender Cavalry in their white hats would just get over it - Not everybody likes or want to sound like a 7ender. Personally, I knew it before I even got rent my first bass, it was 1974 and my folks took me to the local Mom n Pop to rent a bass and sign me up for some lessons. The only bass I wanted was the Japanese EB copy, why? It looked like Andy Fraser's and Jimmy Lea's bass........

My first real bass was the V in my avatar, I think Jim Lea had one. I still have it. I guess I have always liked the thickness of a humbucker. One of my favourite Fenders is a 73 Seth Lover equipped Tele. Most of the Fender brigade hate them.
I really don't like the thin scooped tone of a Jazz in the mix.

No, it is forbidden to un-white a white TBird. The correct answer in this case-and with all cases, actually-is to buy another TBird in the color that you want.

Fair point, honestly it would be too much work anyway :roflmao:

I have been thinking about adding chrome hardware so it looks something like this:

@TBird1958 do you still have the Gibson on the right? I see it has Hipshot Ultralights, I assume they make a drop in replacement for the Epi Classic, I'd rather not have to drill the headstock.

That's the problem with it - it's in that zone where it's a little too expensive for the average player and not quite desirable yet as a collector.

One of my two biggest regrets (instrument-wise) was dragging my feet on grabbing a DA plexi bass for $350 back in '84. Hanging in the used section at Daddy's Junky Music but I had just bought one of my BC
Rich's and I knew my wife would have a cow if I walked in with another at that point so I kept mulling it over and when I went back, there is was, gone! :) Now they're so expensive it's not even an option to consider.

While I'm here, I'll add that is an awesome collection and display as well Geoff!
