Pardon the crappy mobile pic, but I sold off a 7ender this weekend ('94 Jazz '75 RI) and then there were 6 (there's an Epiphone EJ-200 Artist Jumbo acoustic over on the left. Still trying to offload that Armstrong to make room for a Cataldo NRbird. I wanted to offload that P that I built, but I can't part with it. Put too much into it to have it walk. Love the 'Birds in the basement.
I'd get that armstrong in a beat if i had that sorta money.
Truly a shame I can only click the "like" button once Geoff, lovely basses and home!
That's the problem with it - it's in that zone where it's a little too expensive for the average player and not quite desirable yet as a collector.
Cheating is OK. I just ordered up the chrome Hipshot tuning machines with mini-clovers for my 'Bird. It's a '91, but it will look like a much older one soon enough. Pickup covers are here (thanks Larry!), trim rings are here, chrome Babicz is on the way (cheating only goes so far), and tuners are on the way. When the Babicz gets here, I'll mount it and see if a bridge cover will work over it. I hope so, because bridge covers look great and are useful for stuffing in a piece of foam when you need that extra thumpiness.
I haven't decided on strings yet. I usually play finger style and rarely use a pick. Maybe flats, maybe Sunbeams. Maybe something else.
That makes two of us. Hipshot says it could be a couple weeks. I hope the tuners are the right ones. I measured the post, and it was about 5/16" where I measured it, so I ordered 3/8 tuners. I assume the 3/8 is the portion that goes through the headstock, not the peg itself. If that's not the right size, it will be a bit longer and more expensive than intended, but it's worth it in the end. You're welcome, William. Can't wait to see it all together!
They are just jealous. You should see the abuse I'm taking via anonymous email about the price on my Armstrong on the local craigslist. At $2200 CAD, it's the cheapest bass in the best condition on any of the major gear sites. Every couple of days someone is emailing swear words or calling me a chump or a loser or that my pricing is moronic. Ya, terribly sorry your mom won't give you the money for a vintage bass. It takes all kinds.

I lucked into a pile of distressed Red Oak planking 3/4" thick by various widths and lengths. I used it to frame some of my favorite pictures of the Moab region, they work well together.Someday I'm going to have a distressed wood wall like that for hanging my basses on. That looks soooo bad ass!!!!
But you have the desert yard! Too cool!
You got THAT right! Summer time and they would spontaneously cumbust! Thanks! I like the yard too, but that is outside and I can't leave my basses outside all year![]()
