I could care less about Krist Novoselic. His sig is HUGE on the headstock of his Gibson RD reissue. It didn't keep me from buying it but I didn't care for the look of it on there.

I don't much care for the sig bass Gibson did, but his playing style is great. Fun hooks that keep the song solid. But i'd never buy his signature RD, & i don't think i'd look on the vintage market for one. It looks cool, but the shape is too odd for me to feel comfortable playing. Besides, i've got my birds & they do just fine. Now if only i can finish at least one of them

After an hour & some of steam & chisel, it's finally off. Now it's time to rasp/plane the surface & glue on alder pieces on the heel sides. I might need to replace the truss nut & i'll make the truss rod access a bit better now that i can remove the truss rod as well xD.

Thanks Larry ! & not much left Klondike But i'm thinking of keeping whats left of the "untouched" original board as memoriam, but i might just throw it out as well cause i've got no place to keep it xD Right now 1/2 of alder is being glued & set to the heel, in about an hour or so i'll glue the other piece on & i think that'll end my night with the neck. I still got to record at least one song for a band cause we're playing very soon & want a few more originals.

Also, i took the truss rod out, & i'm not gonna lengthen the headstock access, cause if i do, it'll be too fragile & break even easier. It's also good to note that the truss rod was wrapped in a black plastic, any idea why epiphone would've done that instead of just inserting the rod as is (bare metal). Is it to not cause a break in the neck when the weather gets cold? Cause if it is then i'm kinda screwed cause i stripped it off XD

Well I'm glad it sold so I could free up the funds, but I enjoyed playing/owning the bass. It is a true beast!! Also sold my clean Blackbird. Hate to see that go but I have the modified one and it's a great player as well so I'm good

Yeah, I had the same reaction to that one. There's a red sparkle 7enderbird in the classifieds right now. It has Alumatone pickups. It's enough of an oddity that it has my attention, too. Whoever buys it will get a great looking beastly instrument.

I really hate this board. Before I was a happy guy having two bass guitars never worrying about anything bass(tech)related. This place gets me paranoid.

Does this happen frequently? How can I avoid it? How long has the exposure to be to endanger my bass? At what temperature differences? Never seen it, never heard it, but I don't know many bass players personally tbh. I of course noticed that the neck changes with temperature, but I set up my AW Epi in summer at ~30°C/86°F and it changed by 0,2mm(1/120th ") at 12°C/53°F

I'd never let my basses stay in a vehicle whether it was Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall. Always climate controlled. Sure the temp could vary a bit as does the humidity from my home to work or to my bass lesson but nothing drastic. That even went for my first cheapy Ibanez SR300DX.

Well, my big problem is that I do all my ways on public transport. And there could be very well 15 minutes of wait in minus °C. Winter gets as cold as 14°F here.

I was never worried that the neck would snap. I was more concerned with the finish checking which would be a major downer for me. Others seem less concerned especially when they conclude that their basses cannot be kept at a reasonable temp and humidity at all times. It's part of their ownership experience.

I'd be interested in hearing how gigging bass players deal with loading in and out and whether they ever leave their gear in their vehicle in a cold garage overnight if they're too beat to unload once home again.
