I was never worried that the neck would snap. I was more concerned with the finish checking which would be a major downer for me. Others seem less concerned especially when they conclude that their basses cannot be kept at a reasonable temp and humidity at all times. It's part of their ownership experience.
I'd be interested in hearing how gigging bass players deal with loading in and out and whether they ever leave their gear in their vehicle in a cold garage overnight if they're to beat to unload once home again.
All right. I need a car anyway when I gig again, but aslong as we don't have material to fill a set of originals this will take time. Now I'm worried about snapping necks and a damaged finish.
