If anyone could possibly be interested, here’s a soundcloud rundown of the 7 basses I played last night into Logic. Everything just straight into the interface, no tweaking of the sounds. It’s pretty ‘warts and all,’ with plenty of clams and lots of fret noise on the Hofner, especially. Both ‘Birds have dead strings, especially the Cataldo. I also don’t like the strings on the Drake. 8 bars with each bass.

7. Drake w/ Cobalt Rounds

I don't really care about newest or smallest but lightest? I'm in(assuming it sounds good). I got my Rumble 200c in November of '15. I can lift it into the van* with one hand and it sounds good for anything I'm likely to do.

Regardless of what bass you were playing, that was a sweet riff.
It’s still bouncing around in my head.

Used the Gretsch at a gig last night and was pleased. I’ve raved the Cataldo plenty...awesome bass. Interesting side note you couldn’t have known, BUT...
I know you’re a big proponent of single pickup basses. The Cataldo obviously only has one, but the bridge pickup on the Gretsch is extremely weak and I never use it. Every other example used both pickups. Proves you know what you like, if nothing else

The explanation for having both is really very simple: the Safari has 268,000 miles; the Aerostar 336,000. They both run well, have plenty of room for gear, are certainly paid for and aren't worth in trade, so I'll keep them 'til they quit.

"Simple" was one of my primary criteria when I bought my Orange. Also, controls that are big enough to read in low light, with no glasses.

I like Orange amps. They have unfortunate pricing in Canada as a result of shipping and poor exchange rates.

Plonk was known for using Harmony basses with the Small Faces and it looks like an H27 to me.
