The Legend 4X was nice, but I had completely upgraded the electronics. The body was thicker than any bird I have owned, but not heavy. The SNC pre fit with no problems and matched up perfectly with the holes for the vol-tone knobs. I thought the 2+2 headstock would eliminate neck dive but it didn't. The body was very light. I think the website says it has a maple body but this one had to be basswood or something equally soft. Had to reinforce all of the strap button screws because they stripped out super easy. Even using recessed straplocks the screws would not hold for long. Once I did the toothpick trick for the screws they held firm. The fit and finish were very good and once I had everything the way I wanted it, it was a great player. I don't know if I would call the 4X an upgrade over the Epi, just different. I would buy another no problem. The Epi definitely weighs more. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's what I have now. Just keep thinking about hot rodding a Spector 4X. I already have the SNC pre sitting around because it wouldn't fit in the epi. Some after and before pics.

Also, wouldn't that be Vintage Sunburst? I think 2013s were only VS or Black.

Doesn’t really look VS to me.

There is a theread going about an unused hole. Aside from the obvious ehem factor, it got me thinking. I may rewire the fretless 'Bird, and it will have empty holes. A switch for lights might be an option. It already has a battery box. Ah, too many things that somebody really ought to do, so little time for doing them...

Looks good!!! I don't see any reason NOT to mod a 4X. You have that SNC Pre sitting there, why let it go to waste??

Can you fix a length multicolour LED blingstrip in the routs under the plate? Use a remote control. Would chew batteries though.

Lot's of LED options out there - I think events like Burning Man really accelerated the development of light sources over the years.

Going wireless, I already have a perfectly good kill switch. It's the button on the receiver that kills the signal and turns the receiver into a tuner. No need for another kill switch I would only bump accidentally and at bad times. I'm thinking lights, but then, I'm not sure where the lights would go.

Full color tuning with a rotary knob? Maybe get rid of the tone circuit and have two unused holes for lighting controls. It could have a groove routed into the perimeter to make a lighting halo! I need a clone who has time to mess with these ideas and figure out how to do it.

Gotta rout out the bass for the light trough. The rout doesn't have to be beautiful if the scratchplate is made the right way. It would be better if it was, though, because it would make for more options. Maybe a Thunderbird shaped rout, with just a clear plate.
