Thunderbird Club

Time to dumb it down...…..

Yeah, white Thunderbirds, still rule.

The Bird sounds amazing-and looks good too. Made that SVT roar. BTW(FWIW),though I'm a bass/baritone vocally, I can hit his last note on "Never Let You Go"-and higher-and hold it. Surprises the hell outta people first time I hit the high stuff on the gig since I do our announcements in my FM DJ voice. Oh, another thing, I know a girl named Eileen, one of her legs is shorter than the other.

In an interview, Steve Miller said that they used to carry a synthesizer to do the sounds at the beginning of "Jungle Love" 'til one day in a toy store he found a $2 'ray gun' that made the same noise.
My furnace used to make a really great noise when the fan kicked in. My brother and I really wanted that sound for whatever purpose revealed itself. The furnace died one January, and we never got the sound. It is a shame, because it's the same kind of thing.

Just for the halibut, I went a'Googling. There are big band, concert band and orchestra arrangements of Free Bird. I was thinkin' of writing one. For $45. I can buy one-much easier.

And now I wanna hear some of these- but they have to have the intensity of Skynyrd playing it live. Nothing else will do.

But how do you get the rest of the big band to play it?

Fat Tuesday is coming up, then Lent, when I don't drink. Got to get it in now.

Doggone, she's cute!

Today I was asked about the rules of Lent on fast & abstinence by somebody, and by trying to help them found out something strange interesting.

A request for a local exception in Florida allows alligator to be considered “fish” and therefore can be eaten on meat free days. Odd, but nothing on the French settlers into Quebec (Québécois?) a few hundred years ago. They asked for, and were granted, a dispensation to eat Beaver on meat abstinence days.
There you go Canadians, permission to eat beaver on fish days.

Reads like a Monty Python script.

It's goofier than that. If you do it traditionally, the fast is during the week, so no booze then. But on Sunday, the fast is broken, so you can drink if 40 days and 40 nights is just a bit to biblical to deal with. So, no lyin' cheatin' stealin' and drinkin' on Saturday night, but it's all OK on Sunday. And then if you are in New Orleans and Cajun, which is French, then there's probably other stuff that's even odder. I'm just Appalachian and protestant. We don't get quite as many rules or exceptions to enjoy the weirdness of.

No 'Bird content, but I really like the drummer in this one. IT's a great song. Plus Rachael Price. No need to think too much beyond that. She's got to be the most expressive and blisteringly great singer of our current era.

Edited because I suck at the internet.

Nobody who introduces me to a voice like that sucks at the internet. Yow!

In South America, missionaries granted the native indians an exception for capybara because they (capybara) swim.
