I didn't know that. I assumed all soldering irons could do that if wielded like a cave dweller.
They can. But I think the gun can overwhelm most heat sinks with the heat surge.

The BL of one of the big bands I play with occasionally wants to do more 'rock' so I suggested it to him.But how do you get the rest of the big band to play it?
Today I was asked about the rules of Lent on fast & abstinence by somebody, and by trying to help them found out something strange interesting.
A request for a local exception in Florida allows alligator to be considered “fish” and therefore can be eaten on meat free days. Odd, but nothing on the French settlers into Quebec (Québécois?) a few hundred years ago. They asked for, and were granted, a dispensation to eat Beaver on meat abstinence days.
There you go Canadians, permission to eat beaver on fish days.
Reads like a Monty Python script.

I could probably stand Freebird done by these guys

She usually sings with a band called Lake Street Dive. I have seen them three times now. The drummer is a beast, and the bass player treats the upright like a toy. She's a tiny little woman which makes what she does with a bass fiddle even more amazing.Nobody who introduces me to a voice like that sucks at the internet. Yow!
It's goofier than that. If you do it traditionally, the fast is during the week, so no booze then. But on Sunday, the fast is broken, so you can drink if 40 days and 40 nights is just a bit to biblical to deal with. So, no lyin' cheatin' stealin' and drinkin' on Saturday night, but it's all OK on Sunday. And then if you are in New Orleans and Cajun, which is French, then there's probably other stuff that's even odder. I'm just Appalachian and protestant. We don't get quite as many rules or exceptions to enjoy the weirdness of.
Yes, same rule as the alligators and beavers. In South America, missionaries granted the native indians an exception for capybara because they (capybara) swim.
A friend is very Catholic. He rides his Catholic guilt like a horse, to great effect. He's a blast to drink with, except he can put me right under the table and never bat an eye. He's not even Irish. His ancestry is mostly northern Italian. For whatever that's worth.Well I’m Irish Catholic with a dash of French Creole so I’m up for an exception.
In Oz the Catholic Church ranks St Patrick’s Day as a Feast (higher than in Ireland!). So a couple of years ago St Pat’s Day fell on a Friday in Lent. St Pats is the bigger card to play (Frast wins though I don’t know the exact terminology) and I was fully entitled to go to the local Irish pub for lunch and have a couple of pints of Guinness and a beef n Guinness pie for lunch guilt free*.
* and I loved every mouthful.

NOLA is one of the very few places I would ever live, other than Seattle. It's got a rotted out, moldy, feral, probably toxic energy that's intoxicating. It's physically decrepit, in a way that only a city in a semi-tropical swamp can be. It is a horrible, wonderful place. It is also the only place I have ever been where there's a checkpoint by the hotel elevator. It's been a couple years, and I need go get there again.Back to your previous post. New Orleans is one place I really want to get to ‘one day’. I imagine I’d have a very good time there, either that or a very bad time.
I even watch NCIS NO and sing along to the theme song...
Boom Boom !
Ask and ye shall receive. Whether it's a good idea or not.
I never represented that I offer quality of any kind.Thanks.
I think.

It's great there. I've been a bunch of times, first time in 1984 for the World's Fair. One thing I never forgot was how they don't bury the dead because the water level is too high; they'd float away.NOLA is one of the very few places I would ever live, other than Seattle.
