Thunderbird Club

Drove over 7 hours to play a gig. Left Nashville in a T-shirt, drove into a bunch of snow in Ohio at load in. Glad Jamie packed warm clothes in my suitcase! Bar kept tipping us to keep playing past our contracted time...wound up playing 5 hours...gonna sleep good tonight!
Started the show on upright and a fan started yelling “where’s the Thunderbird?!”
Would up playing the ‘Bird most of the night :)
Take That GenPop!

Lumbar laminectomy..

When seeing this one I looked at the other 6 64 II's on Reverb. This one 1964 Gibson Thunderbird II [*Demo Video] has been on there for a while and the guy states a few incorrect 'facts' including "in '65 it switched to non-reverse", and "this is the original HSC for this bass". You'd think offering it for over 10k he'd at least get the facts straight...
the Lull website says 'reversed' when describing the NR..

Yes, we've been down that road before - point being the same design was in place from '63-'65, so his statement that it was changed in '65 was incorrect. Since he stated he owned 70's Bi-Centennial birds, as a selling point to differentiate the original from those birds and to further justify why they are asking over $10k, he could have noted their different pu's. That is, if he knew what he was talking about.

This is nit-picking but he was generally correct that the "center" located pu on a II is "like a P-bass" but FTR a P pu is 4.5" from the bridge saddles (center) and a bird is 5.5" from the bridge saddles. (centered)

Yeah, but the video is on the interweb so it must be accurate.:smug:

He looks like a nice guy and all, very enthusiastic and cheery which is a good starting point/tact for selling something. I worked in a bike shop at one point (I'm an ex-USCF road racer) and as much as I was well versed in all things road-bike I frankly didn't know that much about off-road bikes. A customer asked about a certain off-road bike and I was cheery and all fielding his questions but he quickly saw that I was clueless on the topic and asked for a salesperson who knew what they were talking about. I was just trying to do my best but he was possibly going to spend some serious coin - so he was correct. From then on I handed such customers to an experienced off-road rider/salesperson.

As far as I know the 70's Bi-Centenial pu's which I was referring to were sidewinders.

Well here it is, just past midnight and still no bird/guitar delivery. Looks like Saturday may be the day.

Its probably a good thing it wasn't delivered today since I spent most of the day at doctors offices trying to figure out why I was having chest pains. Blood pressure was up around 190 over 130 and heart was slowly thumping down around 40bpm. Good news is no issues on the EKG, blood tests will be in the morning after fasting then on to the treadmill for stress testing.

The doctor asked if I was under a lot of stress lately - I smiled and told him yes, not knowing if I bought a guitar or a bass is killing me:laugh:. My wife wasn't amused at the humor:rollno:. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow:thumbsup:.
Hopefully you get that figured out (the health issue) soon.
