Thunderbird Club

sure it can. won't be straightforward but i'll send the cabinet to my tolex guy and i'll do the chassis...
labor of love, must say, listening to bad luck amps like this sing again is very gratifying....when you consider they are going for about 700 on Reverb most people would say "scrap it".....purists on the other hand want them fixed..
I’d be tempted to leave the outside as is, but it probably smells too much like smoke.

Awhile back I did a recording of like 8 of my basses and thought the ‘71 EB3L sounded terrific, but knew it wouldn’t have enough low end for live use...took it to a rehearsal tonight to try anyway

I gotta say, the way it is now, this bass kinda sucks. Plays great, but sounds terrible in pretty much every way. Some of it (weak E and G string) could be a simple setup issue. Also the switch is dirty, so maybe a tech visit could help, but I doubt it would help enough. Worst sustain of any bass I own and I don’t really care about tons of sustain, but this one dies out unusually fast. At a bit of a loss with this one, honestly. I brought a back up bass, just in case

Now we’re talking! With Mike Lynch’s band we prefer a grindier bass sound, but even with Cobalt flats, this was a huge step up from the EB3L in every possible way. You guys probably don’t know this, but a good T Bird is tough to beat :)

Seems like a decent price? Way outta my league, but they were 2500 new.

Seems like a ‘fair’ price, but I’d be way more interested in a Reeves 400. But to be honest, for what I like to hear, the Reeves just ain’t worth the asking price to me. I’d still love to try a 400 though :)

Your Bird through a 400. Like bending and twisting time is how i'd hear it.

As a thoroughly shallow person, that's one of the reasons I like them so much.

And for anybody looking for what looks like a pretty good Gibson at a low price:

Gibson Thunderbird 1993 Sunburst | Tom 's Gear Outlet

The seller makes it sound like it could use a new jack, but that's cheap and easy to deal with.

He has priced the bass so you can factor in the cost of a new jack. Even if you took it to a pro to replace the jack, this is still a great deal!!
