Thunderbird Club

A few weeks ago I asked the GenPop for advice on a small, portable wav player for triggering samples and loops. The concensus was 'use a laptop or a tablet' which really weren't the solutions I was seeking and I walked away pretty quickly.

Ribbon mic and Bird enthusiasts, I give you the Roland SPD One Wav pad - 12/24 selectable wav files in a small form factor, operable by drumstick, hand or foot. Clamp on to a mic stand or on the drum kit and you have instant amazeballs!

I still want the TR 808 but for the price I could have the bird of my dreams.
Edit because I spoke way too soon.......That thing is amazeballs! Insert AHEM! here!

I now own a 2006 Gibson Thunderbird studio
And a 2012 Gibson Tbird

The birds cut through the mix in my band better than my P-bass with Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pickups.

I’ve NEVER had an issue with neckdive either which is the first thing many people complain about. Maybe they are using cheap straps.

I’m thinking about adding a kill switch, I usually have both volume knobs and tone up all the way anyway so might replace one knob with a kill switch

Down this way Petaluma is a winery. They make a pretty good Sparkling amongst other things.

interesting, our Petaluma is very close to Napa Valley where most CA wines come from..
really like (we get a bunch of them over here) Australian wines, would like to try that as I never seen an Aussie sparking wine...

Seems like a ‘fair’ price, but I’d be way more interested in a Reeves 400. But to be honest, for what I like to hear, the Reeves just ain’t worth the asking price to me. I’d still love to try a 400 though :)
tried a Custom 400 some time back at a festival and I have to say I was not really impressed....
never really been a fan of class B (beat the snot outta the tubes) amps....for that type of amp, i would take an SVT over the 400 any day..

Dude! Shoes?

following GOTs lead, took my BaCH NR to rehearsal last night and man was that an awesome experience..
played it through a GK250 into a GK 4X10 box....this band plays old blues stuff....we were going over a Fabulous Thunderbirds track and those Thunderbuckers just sounded perfect.....BIG thunderous tone with huge sustain...
what awesome basses....the guitarist asked me if it was an Epi with a Gibson TRC .......

Very nice! I can't blame you for taking out the tone knob, but for the volumes, try the neck on full and the bridge rolled off a little. Adds some nice grit.

Class B transistor amps can be biased to remove the inherent distortion, but you already know that. For most musical applications (that require big volumes) class AB is probably the most cost effective route to a low distortion solution and in fact, the SVT and other amps like it are class AB.
