cool avatar! He totally looks like a Rocco!
You’ve been outed? Pretty much my fear too.
as much as I try I just cannot get used to the 18V preamp on my Elite J. never really been an active kinda guy....i know there are some great preamps out there but although they sound awesome by themselves, for me, the just don't cut it in a mix....feels like i lose dynamic range on the pliability of the string....the only ones i ever liked were those on Music Man basses.....ripping out the "noiseless" fender pups and preamp and putting in a set of Lollars......we'll see..

I’m stricken with shock and grief. Both as a historian and a Catholic. Tremendous tragedy. But it will be rebuilt and be a greater monument and inspiration for us all.RIP Cathedrale de Notre Dame de Paris....tragic....![]()

you bringing it up, i guess the better question is; how do YOU feel about an active J bass....not that it really matters..I wonder how @fasterpussycat feels about an active Jazz bass...
yeah hear you, the bass plays like a dream and alongside my BaCH is my main gigging axe...Yup, go passive.

I have no particular love of J basses. I am ambivalent about active/passive. So, for me it hits the screen on being a J. I like humbuckers and Ps. (Ahem). Preamp on board doesn't make a difference if I like the bass.you bringing it up, i guess the better question is; how do YOU feel about an active J bass..

i have a vintage 64 set of J bass magnets, wondering if i should have those rewound....as usual.....what to do, what to do..
SD Apollos.
interesting you mention, this P is active and unlike the J it cannot be played passive and we get along just fine...maybe it's the preamp itself? OR maybe i'm just used to passive Js...I have no particular love of J basses. I am ambivalent about active/passive. So, for me it hits the screen on being a J. I like humbuckers and Ps. (Ahem).
