Thunderbird Club

So I am working out of town and the only bass I have access to right now is old Blu, still love the way she sounds. But because I have to be so portable I have a cheesy little POS amp that is always scratchy no matter dhow much Dioxit I spray on it. I'm several hours west of Larry and its been raining here too, All week! Today it has finally started to dry out and the forecast is for tomorrow and Saturday to be nice. Then Thunderstorms come back on Sunday! I haven't been home in just under two weeks now and the big cheeses are saying they want to work Sunday which means I won't get home for three weeks total! Pretty much bums me out because my kids. It's funny, I never thought I could make a good dad so I never wanted kids. Now that I have them I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to them and they weren't in my life, really I now think I am a good dad with the exception of being gone so friggin long.

Hi Club! I'm now the proud owner of a brand new Epi Thunderbird Vintage Pro in Tobacco Sunburst.

I really dig the guitar. Headstock is super heavy, so I'm gonna put some weights in the body cavity to even it out a bit. I'm not exactly a purist, so I'm thinking about playing with the pick guard. I'm under the assumption that the pickguards for the Epiphone models and the Gibson models vary in some respects. Most places that do custom pickguards don't have the template for my exact instrument.

Does anyone in this forum have any experience with this?
Yeah, the better ones in my experience ask you to send them the original pickguard for them to duplicate.

Have you thought of one of those headphone amps for travel, like the EHX one?

Remember, too, ya gotta 'sling' it lower than you would most other basses.

Small rant here...…..

For the most part, yes. There are some men's clothes (and men) that really do look sharp. I see lots of people through the course of a normal workday, its completely commonplace to see nicely dressed women (nice clothes, and nice ensemble) on the train, walking to work and coming in to my store. Men doing the same thing are a rarity at best, I don't mind saying that I enjoy seeing a well dressed man, it just doesn't happen often. Further, it seems as though men are not allowed to wear anything even remotely form fitting, as if we should for some reason be ashamed to show any hint of a figure, and were you to do so, you'd be thought of in less than masculine terms. I detest most men's pants, they're baggy and often fit poorly and are unbecoming for the most part, since starting my job in downtown Seattle I've never worn men's pants to work, ever. I wear women's pants, usually from Eddie Bauer, they fit nice , look sharp and feel really good on my skin. I have some nice kind of stretchy black ones from Macy's that I really like too, so much more comfy than any men's pants!
It's new dress day, that's for later...…..end of small rant. :roflmao:

TLDR, I don't like men's clothes!

I care far more about comfort. I am very much a shorts and tee shirt kind of guy (if I must wear clothes). Frankly, if I could do life in just my underwear, I would. I'd be perfectly happy never wearing shoes, too.

When I do dress up, I have to be super careful; I'm not always Mr. Coordination, and I tend to attract things that stain or damage clothing- especially nicer clothing.

I think that body shape looks killer on a bass. No clue how comfy or not it would be to play, but I’d take that body shape I’ve the SG style (though I love that shape too!). I can’t help but think they blew it with that pickguard design. It just doesn’t work for me. They shoulda called @JIO and he’d nail it :)

So today is my day off, so far I've been in and out running errands etc., longish T shirt and some pretty smooth women's leggings - they're so comfy! Probably dress nice later and do a Thunderbird Thursday pic.
