Does anyone have a trace for a Greco pickguard? I want to get a blank white one to put a sticker on, but don't have a way to scan a trace currently.

Dylan, I can scan and trace my PG for you. I'll take it in to work this weekend and get it done for you.

He did strip it to bare wood. Being a Gibson, it was already a nitro finish, but I can't say what, if any sealer he used. I assume he knows what he's doing - yeah, ass-u-me. But, after the number of years he seems to have been in business, he ought to have had all the education he needs. But, having been a knuckle dragger of various kinds for years, I'm aware that things happen.

I'm not a dick. A local authority told me that I am a real ashhole. It was a compliment.

Any finish can be called "nitro" as long as it has a nitro topcoat. It's what's underneath that can cause a problem when refinishing as well as chemicals used for stripping. That's why a barrier coat is a necessity.

and I have a sticker I can send you..
like this one..

If you're offering to sell me your TBird I'm interested.;)

Are all bicentennial birds sidewinder equipped? I have heard others say the '76 has a brighter crisper tone than the modern birds, is that true?

Thank you, much appreciated! I'll send it off to pickguardian, unless you guys have a better recommendation.

Thank you, but I think for this one I'm going to go with a big rose sticker on the pickguard!

Not the definitive answer here, but yes, I think they are from what I've heard and seen. I've never A/B my '76 with modern T-Bird, but from playing a few in stores, I would say this is correct. I would say the modern PUs are darker and as I recall maybe less mids. But this is going on recollection only.

NBD!
Ive been looking for a small amp. Finally found a little Ampeg BA-108. So the guy mentions the possibility of swapping basses. I brought up my Ibanez from the early eighties and a Spector 2000/4(valued right about $500 usd. Traded the guy my Spector for the brand spankin new Allen Woody. It still has plastic on the pups. Now I gotta figure out what strings Im puttin on her.

This leads me to a question, flats or tapes? I’ve never used tapes. Those of you that have had this bass(or similar) what are your thoughts?

Aren't DaDarrio tapes black?

Never played that model but looking at the pup placement I'd guess it can get very dark and wooly if needed. I use tapes on a lot of my basses. IMHO La Bella has the best tapes out there and a phenomenal selection as well.

The black tapes should bring that bass into a near upright category, very warm, woody and a nice thump with the tone knob rolled off. The Copper White Tape strings are a step brighter, followed by the Gold White tapes which are even brighter, and then plain or silver White tapes which are the brightest and very close to a bright flat wound sound.

I like the black or copper white tapes best for acoustic electric and hollow body basses. Warning, if you want to try tapes to see if you like them be sure to order a medium or light gauge set. Standard gauge tapes are much larger than standard strings and will likely require the grooves in your nut to be re-cut. Lights or mediums will fit your stock grooves just fine.

it's true, they are also lower output. I have TBuckers, a vintage Gibson and the 2013's that came with that bass and the sidewinders are in a class by themselves..

Also check length. The Ibby is a short(30 1/2")scale but needs medium scale DaDarrio tapes because of silk length.
