I'm with you. Going up to 11 is more important than style. I would happily replace top hats with bells that go to 11 (top hats are not available in a form that goes to 11). But @theFixer hated them. I recall several amusing exchanges about knobs with him. Ahem.

And I still tag him in posts even though he has not been checked in to TB in 6 months. Just in case he does check in, he should know that he is remembered.
I miss him too. He was very nice when I started hanging out around here about four years ago. Hope he’s doing well.

NBD!
Ive been looking for a small amp. Finally found a little Ampeg BA-108. So the guy mentions the possibility of swapping basses. I brought up my Ibanez from the early eighties and a Spector 2000/4(valued right about $500 usd. Traded the guy my Spector for the brand spankin new Allen Woody. It still has plastic on the pups. Now I gotta figure out what strings Im puttin on her.

This leads me to a question, flats or tapes? I’ve never used tapes. Those of you that have had this bass(or similar) what are your thoughts?
I really like that color.

Shame about the tug bar somebody put on it, but it could be a selling point for the right person.
Pretty sure he is original owner. I remember some posts when he got it; don’t recall mention of tug bar. I think he goes through a lot of basses. That one looks very nice and the bar doesn’t look like a hack job. I personally don’t like bars, but if I were in the market for one, it wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

Nice dark Goth fingerboards like there should be.
Thanks Mike. That, and the well finished fret ends, was why I bought it. Like I’ve said before I always try to play and inspect before I buy. I hit it with some F1, polished the frets, but black beauties on it and completed a set up. It’s a very nice Goth. I’ve had one before that wasn’t up to snuff, but this one’s a keeper. I’m putting it near the top of my project list to put better, growelier pick ups in it. I want to stay with black strings. I’ll be asking for recommendations in due course. ..

Sweetwater had 3 additional Goths of late and the rosewood was more brown than my stool. Carlo recommended a leather dye - and I’m sure that would work - but I’ve been thinking about snagging this instead. I play a lot of Cure and New Order and need a longer upper register.

I tried one of those and liked it. Great choice.

Black line removed, sir.

I have been curious about that bass as well. I tried one of the versions with the bolt-on neck and it was okay, typical mid price point import bass. This model seems a little nicer.
