Thunderbird Club

My pick of choice.
View attachment 3416698
I have always played with a pick and rarely ever use my fingers to play. I just never learned...

I use mostly a (Fender) Medium pick, whatever that is. I keep my amp volume a bit on the high gain side so I can articulate with a light touch. A medium pick is easy to hold onto and I can cup it and play finger-style in the same song when needed. I switch back and forth depending on the song, but play more with a pick than without. I have a collection including a felt plectrum which all can offer something interesting. Never used the metal picks though... seems like it would trash strings pretty quickly.

I suppose it could be a little more tastefully done.

Think I'm gonna go ahead and pick this up...

For Sale - BaCh Non-Reverse Thunderbird Bass

Quick question, I know this series of Bach 'birds didn't have the belly cut, and the bodies are thicker, but how much thicker exactly? I can add the belly cut later but sanding the whole thing thinner...

Looks cool - can't go wrong dealing with The Bass Clef

It's a good bass! I wish I still had at least one of the two I owned.

I have the two pickup model, same color and vintage. Really, really like it and play it out quite a bit. That said, it's nothing like my 68 II. The body is considerably thicker and heavier as is the neck. Out of town for work now but will measure body thickness difference and post when I get back Thursday. I had the belly cut done and it's way more comfortable (than it was) strapped on, specially if you wear it high. Although it sounded great with the original Artec pups, I slapped a pair of Thunderbuckers on it and it now sounds truly amazing. Earth rattling lows.....the price seems good...I paid 650 for mine without a case....the tuners were the only weak link when I got mine, hard to dial in tune and would not hold for very long..
Good luck if you go for it! Pretty awesome basses..

@fasterpussycat @dukeorock I saw Simon Bonney and Bronwyn Adams open for Mark Lanegan. They were great.

@fasterpussycat @dukeorock Lanegan was great, too. His lead guitarist was playing SGs through a Marshall half stack and the bassist was playing a Fender J, but through an (black) Orange amp. No complaints.

I had tickets for the Nashville show May 5, but the damn hospital wouldn’t let me leave! Really wanted to see that. How was Simon Bonney?

A Precision is the only FSO I'm interested in. Hah! Got one. Problem solved!

I saw about 10 minutes of The Blues Brothers on TV the other weekend, right at the concert bit.

Started planing a ThunderDuck...

P body in CAR, J maple neck - 2 cartoonish ducks at 12, and a single TB pickup. I’d go white or pearl white guard.

Too much crap rolls around my head.
