"Original black over cherry finish"???
The factory repainted some of them. I guess they screwed up the finish and just reshot them. There are some metallic burgundy (not burgundy mist) EB2s floating around that were reshot at the factory before being sent into the world. That seems to have been SOP around that time - screw it up, repaint it, send it on.

Oh. I guess that makes it a collector? Someone call Uwe.

yeah, but the specs say Maple body:confused:
They are maple, just like an ES335. One piece mahogany neck, usually. Sometimes more than one piece neck. That one probably started out looking very similar to my cherry EB2. It's a transparent finish, and it's pretty obvious that the wood underneath is maple and mahogany, depending on whether you are looking at the body or neck. I don't know how you screw up the finish if you are the Gibson factory, but they seem to have had that problem off and on around then. Hence the color change. Opaque hides a lot of screwups.

so where does the cherry wood come from? not really cherry wood but tinted cherry colored mist on maple? is cherry wood even cherry colored?

Not Lynch - I never saw an episode of Game of Thrones. It doesn't matter, but apparently the final episode is a big deal. A wag live blogged it on the Guardian's website. It was hilarious, even without knowing what he was talking about.

Everything I know about GoT:
  • Everyone seems to be fighting to sit on the Iron Throne. I'm guessing that's not a toilet[1]. It may be made of swords, based on a Bloom County comic I saw.
  • Rape and murder seem to be the preferred methods of social intercourse (sic, ahem) of most people who have any connection (much less aspiration) to the Iron Throne.
  • Someone who has survived longer than most, named Denares (sp?) snapped and changed her name recently to Psycho Killer, Keska Say.
  • Dragons.
  • Gollum and Kylo Ren took over writing duties for the final season, and all the fans are royally pissed.

[1] I really, really hope it says Crapper somewhere on it, perhaps inscribed on a sword.

Basis of what? You have to be kidding! Hate the songs- well ok. The other two reasons are just silly.

I was going to audition to replace the current drummer, but since I don't think they're any good. forget it.

I'm sure there's some logic in there, but I'm happy I don't get it.

Here's my summary, based on the total minutes watched

If band music is the career you choose, you just need to understand that with very few exceptions there's rarely a median income or retirement plan involved, not to mention fringe benefits like paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid maternity leave, education reimbursements and medical/dental coverage. But many still choose the musicians life because it carries its own rewards - accomplishment, recognition, non conformity and a degree of freedom to express who you are not who the corporation wants you to be.

Ummm, that is entrepreneurship. Living the dream...

Black Ebony covers a lot of sins...
