Yah - what is that flavour? When people ask what flavour it is, I also say "blue". Blue popsicles are good too! Whenever people in futuristic movies drink something, it's usually blue.

I believe it is blue raspberry. Although I have never seen a blue raspberry. Although a blackberry is similar in conctruction and blueish.

There is no blue food in nature.

The poorly named blackberry and the blueberry. As well as the milk I put blue food colouring into. Don't get me started on green eggs and ham.

We have three bass players at church, and someone else (an excellent player with serious band experience) was playing this morning. He said his bass went quiet half way through the first set (we came for second service), so he dug out his mini-keyboard and played that. I [pointed out that the third bass player leaves a bass at church (forgetting that we also have a Yamaha bass of unknown ownership there as well). He said he didn't know if it was the bass or his pedalboard, so that wouldn't work. Alas, I didn't get a chance to discuss it further.

While I like my board, I have no problem plugging straight in. When my board developed a problem mid-set a while back, I did exactly that. I practice without any effects most of the time, and occasionally play that way just because.

Just curious- do any of you feel you have to have pedals? My compressor and EQ are on most of the time, but the only thing I *have* to have is the bass.
I don’t need pedals. If the gig doesn’t call for any effects, I don’t bring my board.
And that reminds me I need to do some troubleshooting of my board. It has started to make crackling sounds.

Fortunately we still live in a society where both beer and effect pedals can be had, even at the same time!

Too much of one might lead to too much of the other.

Too many beers, shouldn't be playing.
Too many pedals, shouldn't be drinking.

A smile and a wink on both. :)

imagine waking up to this....

I loved Roller Derby on TV as a kid - "The Bay Area Bombers" vs whatever town they were in named "opponents" that traveled with them like the circus. There was a 'leading man' on the mens squad and a 'leading lady' on the woman squad - "The Blond Bruiser" or something...

I did too, was way better than cheaty wrestling.

It was cut out of the same cloth - I read a book about Roller Derby when I was in high school - it was very much "a show", like "All Star Wrestling" was. I watched both but preferred Roller Derby because it was more active. Talented wrestlers and skaters who found a way to earn a living. Who knows what it's turned into now - I don't keep up, but back then it was pretty harmless fun. "Showbiz"

I remember watching roller derby on TV Saturdays. It was either immediately before or immediately after wrestling (back when wrestling was real). The best roller derby-ist was Skinny Mini Miller. I think she was on the Minnesota something or others.

Hey wrestling was real! It became fake when Hulk Hogan didn't want to lose the championship!

I see my favourite gin (Hendricks) and my first alternate (Bombay)
I'm a gin drinker also. Hendricks is great straight up, but my favorite tall cold G&T on a hot summer day is Beefeater with Schweppes tonic water and a twist of lime on the rocks. Never liked Bombay for some reason. I'll pass on a G&T if Bombay is the only choice, but will settle for Tanqueray if I have to.

If playing guitar, I gotta have my pedals. However, for bass I prefer not to have any. My tuner is rack mounted and turned on the entire night (I sometimes use a clip on to tune up before a gig). Never got into EQing my bass with pedals, my amp has all the EQ I need. If I need to vary the sound of my bass with more or less attack, brighter, softer, deeper, or more gritty sounds I normally change my right hand position or tone knob setting and favor one pickup over the other. Or I just switch to a different bass with the right strings/pups/control settings to deliver the sound I need.
