it's actually a true, fascinating story....Ford almost bought Ferrari (because of their world racing dominance which included Le Mans) around that time but Ferrari backed out last minute (saying you couldn't sell Italian patrimony to the Americans) really pissing off Ford who in turn brought Carroll Shelby (who had raced for Ferrari) on to develop the GT-40 which won next year's Le Mans in a sweeping first, second and third place with Ferrari in fourth...And he could actually drive.

It's quite exciting when your music project just takes off in directions you never expected.
I was expecting a different kind of list; people owed a comeuppance.
Or maybe, if you throw enough money and Carroll Shelby at something...it's actually a true, fascinating story....Ford almost bought Ferrari (because of their world racing dominance which included Le Mans) around that time but Ferrari backed out last minute (saying you couldn't sell Italian patrimony to the Americans) really pissing off Ford who in turn brought Carroll Shelby (who had raced for Ferrari) on to develop the GT-40 which won next year's Le Mans in a sweeping first, second and third place with Ferrari in fourth...

Ford should have called it a Thunderbird. GT40 just does not make it as a name.Did Shelby only do it for the money? Because if he’d worked for anyone else decently funded, I doubt Ford could have spent enough to beat them.
